How are you going to come on a Lexus forum and bash on them? The 3IS are awesome cars for what is it! Before picking up my 14' IS350 I was looking into getting a E60 M5 and I am very happy with my decision I made picking up the Lexus with no regrets.

Everyone has a different taste, that's why there are so many options when looking for a new car ... It's clear the 3IS isn't for aard, so move on already. No need to keep posting everything you don't like about the car on a Lexus fan forum!

I appreciate that Lexus did it in a attempt to lose their old man image and recapture sales that they lost to the Germans, but it reeks of a desperate, adolescent attempt by Lexus to be cool and hip.
From your initial problem with the car (seats and control) to the "bump" you are talking about now, it just seems like the IS isn't your type of car to own.

If the bump is such a big issue, I'm sure people would have brought it up 3 years ago when the 3IS came out.

From what I've seen, here is a list of reasons why you don't like the 3IS:
  1. Uncomfortable seats
  2. Bad screen location
  3. Poor infotainment control
  4. Poor exterior/interior design
  5. Poor performance
With that amount of dislikes, the IS is definitely not for you.

And since you don't like the poor reliability of BMWs or Mercedes, sorry to say, maybe you're not meant to be in the entry level luxury market lol

Your last choice will probably be the Infiniti Q50, but who knows... maybe you have a ton of complaints about that car as well.

And like you said, a Camry or Accord will suffice for you because it makes more sense.
Plus it's cheaper than the IS.

Anyways, good luck with car searching.

@rebirthing, that bump on the AWD version has been there since the 2IS, it is to accommodate the front transfer case for the AWD system. It's not there on the RWD version.

Also, I think the OP (aard ) referred to the IS as the low end luxury, not the entry level luxury.

Annoying?
I test drove the car at least 5 times (different versions of IS 25-350 at different dealers) and didn't know about the hump until I read this forum so clearly it is a non-issue for me. But if you desperately want excuses to hate the car - anything will do.

Yea I know the bump is only there in AWD versions, which is not a deal-breaking issue at all

And sorry, I thought low end = entry level lol

Have you tried sitting in the GS to see if there's a difference? Otherwise we can't do anything the seat comfortability. I do agree that on long drives my butt starts to hurt lol. If you're planning on getting a C class then get the current 2015- 2016 C Class because their seats are way better. Also, I wish the 3IS has a bigger nav screen like the one in the GS.

I just can't get over how horribly uncomfortable seats are. The seats are far too narrow and the bolsters stick into my kidneys, even though I am far from large. How is Lexus not aware of such a major problem?

I also dislike the screen and controls. The screen is too far away from driver eye position. The mouse control is unusable, especially if you are left handed like me. How is Lexus not aware of such a major problem?

The Mercedes C class 4matic is my preferred car in the class, but the reliability rankings are so hot, creating a major conflict. Is there any way to get around the Lexus problems? Can you learn to live with them?
How about GS350 or lexus ES350?

The 2017 refresh is getting a bigger screen now.

The 10" screen in the '17 refresh is a nice upgrade. Still smaller than the GS (12.3"), but way better than 8".

I agree with the OP that they shouldn't buy a "Lexis"
