To go 3rd Gen or late 2nd Gen...
My wife and I have been looking at purchasing a IS350f. She was thinking about purchasing a 2012-2013 to save a little bit of money and I was looking at purchasing a 2014 that's for sale locally with about 15,000 less miles than the ones she has been finding. Is there any real difference between the two generations that one would favor the newer one over the older or vice-versa? Also, for those with younger children ( >10 booster seat), has the 350 been enough room? I had a CT200h for awhile and the kids didn't have much room and I'm sure the parents know that getting kicked in the back gets old.
Thanks!

Definitely 3rd gen. The chassis/body is immensely stronger and more modern/larger. Safer for your family. Much improved materials, strength etc.

Between the two get the 3rd gen. I've had two car seats in the back and plenty of room for the kids. Though it will be tight for someone to sit in the middle. I've sat in the back of a 2nd gen and didn't have as much leg room (possibly because the driver likes have the seat way back for a some one is 5'11'')
Added note, 3rd gen allows you to fold back seats completely down that 2nd gen cannot.

I would recommend 3rd gen any day for a few reasons:
Good luck!
- Size: Rear is noticeably bigger, so it'll be more suitable for kids with booster seats. It's big enough for 2 booster seats. Buuut, I can't guarantee your kids won't kick the back of your seat even with the extra space lol
- Design: Personally I think it looks much better than the 2nd gen IS.
Good luck!

Definitely go with the 3is. I've owned both and the new generation is an overall better car. Interior of the 2is feels cheaper and the new one handles a lot better too. Speed is a non-issue....they are both slow

If 0-60 and 1/4 mile times aren't critical to your comparison between the 2IS350 and 3IS350 (in which the 2IS350 has a noticeable advantage of), get the 3IS350. The 3IS350 has a more modern interior, additional leg room in the back, and a better tuned factory suspension.
Please note that the 3IS350 F-Sport trim does omit several key luxury amenities that only the base 3IS350 has (for cost-saving purposes) so carefully review what you are looking for in the vehicle before purchasing and being caught off-guard after the fact.
