ouch, I curbed a rim on my f sport last week literally the day after I put the permanent plates on it... I almost dropped the phone when I heard how much they are.
I feel your pain big time

It looks as if you hit a pot hole of some kind.. Railroad tracks can cause the initial lip bending that is shown here too...
Rims should not break like that unless you hit something REALLY bad, like a curb at a decent speed..
Rims are suppose to be able to take a pothole.. I've bent a few lips up in my years but never had such a huge crack develop.
Really CHEAP rims are not certified or tested and break easily which is what I would guess is the case here..
Sorry about your luck

I'm going to take a tape measure of the width of this road and see if the city will comp me some for the damage. It's obviously not wide enough. Worth a try

Hey sorry for that..it sucks to dish out that money but you are gonna have too.. I used to own a wheel repair company here in NY and rims like that although you can weld them (as long as it is not bent from the hub) it won't be safe for you to drive on it because the chances of it breaking again is very high. A cheaper option would be to check ebay for a used one and even if it has curb rash it will run you anywhere from 125-200 depending on the company you send it too to fix the rash which is just sanding and painting...weigh out your options and compare the price to buying a new wheel and see if it beneficial to go the used route.

The results look amazing, I couldn't even tell where the rash once was.
Normally, I think the price to get it fixed at dealer is between 100-125 per rim.
