I'm wondering who would do this first. If I had the $$$ I would do it.

there's probably a whole lot more to it than just swapping the screens. it would seem like an impracticality to try to undertake such a project.

Yeah not sure the video would just automatically stretch to fill the whole screen. Will be interesting to see.

I'm more interested in swapping over the rear diffuser and exhaust tips.

Not gonna lie, I thought of this when I first saw the 17. I just see this big *** area with a little screen. I'm just wondering if no one in lexus thought of using that opportunity to use the entire area for the screen. Kinda a wasted potential but no discredit to the is350. I'm loving this car. But like most of us, always looking for ways to improve.

If there is a way to retrofit it I'm for sure looking at doing so within reason of $$$

In theory all we want is the screen. The question is will the wiring and size fit? Resolution will have to be considered being the fact that comes from the actual radio itself

Interested in doing this as well but you all know that it will be very expensive mod. Screen alone already cost about $2400 for '14-'16 MY. You will likely have to mod the engine push start button area too, not even sure it's possible. In '17 model it was reshaped so that driver can see the corner of the bigger size screen.

Didn't they revise the dash trim pieces to not block the big screen as well? Also the new control pad with the added buttons seems like it's not going to be a simple retrofit. Nevertheless I would be very interested to see someone tackle it.

Yes, it was revised for '17 model but if you're going to fit the bigger screen to our older cars it will be partially blocked.

My suggestion on this would be to check scrap yards in your area on occasion. Eventually one will get written off and then you can grab the screen from it cheap.

My local scrap yard has a 2015 screen listed for $1700, so it isn't any cheaper.
As much as I love that bigger screen, it'll be too expensive and difficult for anyone to attempt.

Not to mention, the 2014-2016 IS infotainment software probably won't know what to do with the screen. You'd need a way to get the new hardware and/or flash the new software on there. Overall, it's a project that'll probably have a very high cost/benefit ratio. For the price to do it, you could probably just sell your IS and buy a 2017.

Well brothers it doesn't hurt to ask. I got some good insight from you all. This mod is more than its worth from what it sounds. Thanks for the good advice

Existing head unit wouldn't know what to do with the screen. Software is written to display at one resolution only I bet.

Coupler to connect it may be entirely different. It could be from a whole different supplier with entirely new PCB.

I foresee the radio will have to be swapped as well, and then it goes on and on, dash center console, joystick, maybe even amplifier. It will be an expensive project. Will be more worth while after the car gets a little older and some of these get into accidents and totaled and then you get get parts from it used.
