16 IS200T strange engine noise! help!
#46
I have an issue with my IS200T. As of late, there's been a hesitation to accelerate. The other day, car completely shut down, luckily i was just moving from a stop light and going into a gas station. Car lost power, I slowly pulled in and Check engine light came on. Added some gas, checked fluids, all seem fine. Also, I only put premium grade gasoline in this thing. Car currently has less than 28k miles so it's not like service is due either. Restart car and it drove normal but it still has been hesitating to accelerate. I will take it in this month for the 30k Mile service and report to the service people. I made sure i took a video with the check engine on.
Would not recommend this motor to anyone, just get an IS350. Luckily my lease ends next summer and with Lexus pull ahead program I should be out of this car in May.

I'm at 27k so far, original everything, no ill effects. I'll be letting the next owner (or dealer) replace the plugs though =D

My car was loosing power and shutting off at around 27k. I bury my foot and it would go into limp mode and loose complete power, consequently had to shut down and restart. Lexus had to replace spark plugs and fuel injectors. This motor sucks, would not recommend. Stock motor, no mods but driven like I would my old BMW (not like your typical toyota driver).
Did toyota forgot how to build a good turbo motor?

I have exactly the same noise issue, and it is indeed the vacuum valve regulator is making that noise. It seems this particular part is not very reliable. I am currently waiting for my 2nd replacement of this part.
The first time I had it replaced was around 10,000 miles. Now at 15,000 miles, the new part is making the same noise again. I just brought the car to the dealer last week and I am currently waiting for the replacement

I might have to keep replacing it myself after the warranty expires.

Can anyone with experience with this failed part help me identify if the noise in this video sounds like it?
I hear an audible “chatter” noise but I’m not really picking up a fan noise.
Engine Noise Video
Thanks!!
