Considering purchasing 2016 IS200t F-Sport, have a question about tread wear
Hey I'm currently considering buying a IS200t F-Sport because the dealers around me have quite a few still in their lots and I think I might be able to get a good deal while they're trying to push out the new IS. One of my main concerns is I've read about some uneven tread wear because of negative camber (I realize this is somewhat normal for sports cars), but I was wondering if anyone can give me an insight on how bad (or not so bad) it actually is. I know the stock tires are crap and will wear out pretty early, but if I slap on all season touring tires should they still last me a good while? Thanks!

I haven't owned my 200t F-Sport long enough yet (only 2500 miles) to be of help, but honestly I love the car so much a little pre-mature tread wear wouldn't deter me at all. Might just be par for the course for this type of car.
As for the "best" tire - depends on what someone values and needs. Personally, I'm aiming for Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 for my replacement. I had the DWS on another car before and liked it a lot.

The stock tires are not "crap" by any means. Especially not the ones with the summer tire options. Manufacturers typically source EXTREMELY high end tires on their cars because ultimately their cars are reviewed by journalists and the most critical aspect to any car's performance are the tires.
That being said, the tires wear out at the same rate as any other modern RWD performance sedan with staggered setup and performance alignment. BMW, Cadillac, Mercedes, etc. Expect about 15-20k out of a set.
You gotta pay to play. Nothing is free.

Michelin PSS will be my next set of choice once the stock tires are done with. I heard great things about them. They are pretty pricey tho.
I have almost 10k on the car, and from the looks the stock tires still look pretty beefy and thread life looks pretty good. I'll report back once I get my 10K maintenance, I'll ask them to check the thread life.
Off topic, and a very different car. But, my old 2012 Mazda 6 put almost 45k on its stock tires before having it change. So yeaaaaaah, I think the way a person drives, and WHERE you drive will play a huge role in tire thread life.

Yeah the Mazda 6 is a front wheel drive family/grandma/commuter car set up for economy. Performance sedans run relatively aggressive camber and toe settings and performance tires which are staggered. So with that kind of setup, you won't be seeing 45k on a set of tires.
But yes, PSS is a good tire (now outdated) -- ran 3 sets on my BMWs!

I'm not sure if the camber and toe specs are the same on the RWD and AWD models. My IS was AWD so this may be of limited use.
Mine had the stock Turanza all seasons. I traded in my IS with 16k on it and my tires had just under half the tread life remaining. I figure I would have ended up replacing at about 25k miles.

Yea the Tires that come with my new IS200T Fsport are Dunlop SP Sport Maxx and I just looked them up to see how much they are. And on Dunlop website they are $280+ / piece? Damn, are these Dunlops really this expensive? Are these even the stock tires that Lexus put in for these IS200T fsport?

Is the $280 price for 2 tires? or just 1?
