Thoughts on trading 2016 for 2017?

Doesn't seem like it's worth it. Also, are you sure the trade-in value of your car is $38-40k? I was just at a Lexus dealer this weekend looking to possibly trade in my 2016 IS350 F-Sport (ML, Nav, BSM) with less than 8k miles, and the used car manager estimated that my car would be worth approximately $34k, and based on my own research of what these cars are going for in the used market, that seemed about right. Perhaps I could get a bit more if I sold it to a private party, but $38-40k seems like a stretch.

I have been thinking about this too. I purchased a 2014 IS 350 AWD F Sport for cheap off lease outright for very short money. Even after the $4g I put into new tires, wheel refinishing and RSR Sport-I coilovers, I think I can get a good chunk of money back. But the front bumper needs to be refinished as well as the windshield replaced because I am picky. Cars depreciate and I think for a daily driver I can see just having the lease payments and the 2017 model refresh and up to date features and look at the car as an expense and need maintenance, not that the Lexus requires much. F sport Series one has no BSM, sunroof, camera, nav, heated steering wheel, etc.... I could appreciate the extra and added gadgets. IMO, generally cars are not investments.
OP, since you work at Lexus or a dealer, you can probably get a good deal if you play your cards right. Have you done the math on buying out the car and selling it privately? Honestly, if I was to walk to a Lexus dealership looking to trade in my 2014 for a refreshed model, it would be a bonus if the representative there had one too.

no second hand performance car is in good condition, especially a lease. The japanese do fare better than Germans in reliability though. The main reason to purchase/lease the RCF and GSF is for performance, hunger for power and most likely redlined numerous times daily. Or else the previous owner would opt for the cheaper GS350/200t or RC 350/200 or IS 200/250/350. I wouldn't even buy my own RCF, even if its L-certified, after im done with it in a few years haha
Gas is cheap, and will stay cheap for the next few years. I would never consider the RCF when premium gas was over $4. I get 15/25 and I drive it like I stole it daily. Not bad considering some IS200 owners get 20/25 with half the hp

And your comment about the F SPORTS, in 2016 they do come with, "BSM, sunroof, camera, nav, heated steering wheel, heated/vent seats". You just gotta pay for those options. In 2017, they come with all that, PLUS the standard LSS+

The Lexus App Suite's "speed" is dependent upon how fast your cellular data is. Because all those Apps run via Bluetooth and your cellular network.
Of course Lexus promoted it with the fastest network possible to make it look good. But in reality, it really depends on your cellular network.

Hey guys,
Seeking for some financial advice here
I'm thinking of trading in my 2016 IS350 Fsport for the 2017 version. Here's a quick breakdown of what I think it would cost me...
I still owe roughly 12k on the car, but I work at Lexus so the GM can work around it.
A 2017 IS350 FSPORT would roughly be ~50k, If I trade in my 2016, the value of the car would be roughly 38-40k minus the 12k I owe, the trade in value would probably be around 25-27k, which can be put down.
Soo... for the 2017, I could probably get it for a selling price of 42-43K + TTL. At the end, I think would probably lose about ~5-7K in the process. My math could be wrong, but please correct me,
Yall think this is worth? Or should I just pay off the car, and wait for the redesign?

From a financial standpoint trading your 2016 in is a terrible idea. If you must have a new car try to sell your car outright or go see what Car Max will offer you to limit your losses.

Ok so I was at my dealer today to run some errands. I went upstairs cause I know the have the 17 in the inventory. And man was I blown away. It is a step above the pre refresh in every way. I for one admire the new Lexus styling. So sexy. Here are some pics. I esp love the f sport.
