Brand is endlessly debatable, but Lexus recommends full synthetic, 0w-20, to maintain change interval of every 10,000 miles under normal use.
sorry for stealing OP's thread but i have the same question. i have an IS200T. i was thinking of using 0w-20 on the winter and 5w30 on summer. what do you think? or should i do opposite?
I use whatever 0W20 full synthetic Walmart has on sale. I'm not brand loyal and have been swapping oil brands damn near every oil change since I drove a 1991 Acura Integra, hasn't hurt anything and my wallet thanks me.
startup is where most engine wear happens, good synthetic can help mitigate this since synthetic flows a lot better during colder temps than conventional oil. So it will get to lubricating faster and earlier
Mobil 1 is good stuff but some cars don't like it (Subies), I personally use either Toyota Genuine oil, Motul or Amsoil for my vehicles. All have done right by me so far.
isn't the oil that lexus uses mobil 1? i thought that that was mentioned when i last took my car in for an oil change, although i could be wrong. when i had my 2IS, i used to bring my own oil (royal purple) to the dealership and have them use that, but i was told that i was wasting my money if i didn't track the car (and i didn't).
