Does the Body Kit actually affect performance?

air resistance performance is expected to improve?

Yes. He just compared the IS to NASCAR and F1.
F1 average speed of 200mph with aero specific mods, designed purely for racing.
IS3 average speed of 15mph bumper-to-bumper morning commute with look-at-me body kit, designed purely for coolness factor so it can sell.

It all depends on the goals the manufacturer of these kits had in mind. 100% of the body kits I've seen for our vehicles were obviously designed primarily for aesthetic reasons and not for performance gains. In order for a body kit to provide appreciable gains it would have had to spend serious time in wind tunnel testing that these manufacturers most likely didn't bother with it considering the average buyer is just buying it for a "coolness" factor. Its probably far more likely that these kits would actually hurt your aerodynamics not help them. However, you might pick up a sweet highway whistle when your new body kit gets its first taste of 80mph air.
