Water dripping into trunk from hinge covers?
just bought the car (2015 IS250) and several hours after a heavy rain I opened the trunk and watched a scary amount of water drip down from the plastic covers over the hinge arms. Has anyone else had this?

it happened once (driver's side) to me the first time i washed it. didn't happen the 2nd time. i've only had the car 3 months (2016) and washed it 3 times. it hasn't been in any heavy rain yet.

Hi everyone!
Has anyone found the source for the water leak?
I'm about to buy a 2017 is300 and as I was examining the car after it rained, the black plastic around the trunk hinge, on the driver side, was filled with water and poured into the trunk when I opened it.
The car has no spoiler, so a spoiler leak is ruled out.
The car is at a dealership (not a Lexus dealership), so I can't speak to the previous owner to see if it's a recurring problem.
There does not seem to have any rust or water in the trunk other than that.
I really hope that it's an easy fix because the rest of the car is otherwise perfect.

Easiest and first thing to look at is the trunk seal.
Make sure the mating surface on the trunk lid is clean and clear of any debris, then check to see that the trunk seal is in good condition, seated properly, and not damaged.
