Lexus extended warranty?

I just spoke with my local Lexus dealership and I just found out that the extended warranty starts on the date the vehicle was purchased.
So if the car was purchased on let's say March 2014, and I get an "8 years / 75,000 miles" warranty, the coverage will end on March 2022 or 75,000 (whichever comes first), and not March 2026 as I initially thought (which is 8 years on top of the factory warranty expiration date)?
Is this really how it works? If yes, then what's the use of those "4 year" one if it just coincides with your factory warranty?

That sounds right. I purchased an extended warranty (7 yr / 75,000 mile) which will start for me at the end of the month when my factory warranty expires and last for 3 more years or 75,000 miles. I figure that will get me to my next car without worry.
My main concern is not what's under the hood, but, what's behind the dash.

Still debating. Got a $1500 quote for 5yrs / 100k from Route 66. Tempting but you know some 3rd party insurance companies are.

i believe the maximum terms allowed per lexus are eight years and 125k miles with a zero deductible. the price will vary from dealer to dealer as this is just another way to increase dealer profit, i.e., you have room to negotiate some. you can purchase from another dealership, although you cannot purchase from a dealership out of your state of residence any longer.

Hi all.
I just bought a 2016 with 2 years left on the original warranty, i just bought another 7 years. With all the electronics on these cars, to spend a couple of extra k'2 is well worth it for me.
