Default Tire wear @ 20k miles

My 2015 IS250 has 20K miles and both front tires are bald an inch from the inside. Is this normal? Would figure the tires would last longer than this.

Depends on your tires and your driving style. But, no, it's not normal if your rears have much more tread on them. My rears (is350) went 30k miles with moderate driving (plenty of fast take offs). They were Michelin as3 tires. My fronts still have around 5-6/32 of tread left.

16k miles on stock tires. Still plenty of tread life.

Do not drive aggressive at all. Stock height and original tires. I have AWD and F Sport package. My dealer claims it a known IS problem.

Do you also have AWD? I've heard the tires that they put on AWD models are, in general, not great for tread life no matter what car they're on.

If it's a "known" problem, shouldn't Lexus cover the tire if under a certain number of miles?

no manufacture is going to warranty low profile tires.

The "problem" is actually a functional design. It's designed to grip when you are hard on a turn

Thank you for the feedback. Wanted to know before I fork out $700 for new set of tires. In the past I've had numerous cars with even lower profile tires and I have never had any issues with only 20K miles.

Also the treadwear ratings on the stock tires suck. I changed my tires at 16000 miles and upgraded to Bridgestone Potenza RE760 sport

look into Michelin A/S 3. It might be rated as all seasons but they hook up great in hot or cold weather, just not ice

The stock Turanza tires are crap & have no grip on turns in wet conditions.Mine lasted about 20k miles also.

I replaced them with the Michelin Pilot SuperSports & the grip on those are 20x better.
