finally got around to installing everything in my car and what a world of difference it made! the factory stereo was easily one of the worst i've heard by far.
Very clean work on the wiring. attention to detail
The image dynamics id8v4, you are running it infinite baffle just like the factory?
Hows bass response? big improvement vs OEM? Did you have standard audio or ML to begin with?
Nice job!! I always like to see IB setups. Any noise or rattling from the deck? I put a slim JL 10" in the deck of my g37, replacing the factory bose sub. Sounded pretty good and retaining the trunk space was ideal, but the deck couldn't handle it. it was rattling and buzzing with the volume up, and no amount of dampening could quell it. I ended up taking it out after a couple of weeks. I thought about reinforcing the deck with MDF amd trying again, but i never got the time to attempt it.
i'm still in the process of finding the perfect tune. i haven't even got to the dsp of the fix-86 yet. but as of now the IB set up sounds pretty good definitely a improvement over the awful stock sub. bass response isn't as deep as a sealed enclosure but it's sufficient for me, and in coming from a 10w6v2 in a sealed enclosure in my g35 coupe. the rear deck it self doesn't rattle but the plastic piece that holds the torsion bars in place does. i don't think it'll be that hard to fix
i decided that i wasn't happy enough with the IB id8v4 8" sub in the deck so i went into the basement and dug up a Jl 12W6v2 . needless to say i am more than satisfied with the install finally.

LOL...what kind of statement is that? Wanna take a ride in my 2000 Chevy Silverado?
maybe it was just my car but for me the highs were non existent, the mids were all muddy and washed out and the subwoofer was a complete joke. here's the oem response curve measurement. red represents the front mids, purple is the front dash, green is the rear speakers, and blue is the subwoofer. orange represents the flattened eq curve after the jl audio fix 86 did its job.
I didn't dynamat the trunk as i'm only pushing about 300 rms to the sub but the rattling is very minimal. i had more rattles from the ib sub in the deck
Did you disconnect the center channel? Volume **** and steering wheel volume control still work? I ask because online people have said stock amps my change the EQ during volume changes so they had to use the JL volume **** that goes in the FIX86
all stock functions work great ie.. the volume control and steering wheel controls. I ended up disconnecting the center speaker as i felt like it would throw the sound of my entire setup off. I had no issues calibrating the Fix86 and using the EQ within from the FIX-86 itself. The important thing with the FIX-86 is calibrating the unit with the volume set to 75% of the maximum on the factory radio. I personally set the maximum of the oem radio to 45 during calibration(be cautious of how high the gains are set on the amp as well and make sure bass/treble/mid are all set to the middle on the oem radio) Not doing this step properly will cause the volume to advance too much and too quickly on the fix-86 causing extreme distortion even at low volumes of ~20 or so
I like it. Was just complaining about how classic rock sounds this morning with my GF. Played hip hop and a podcast super clear vocals. Pulled up Zeppelin and it just goes to crap. She’s on board with me fixing it now.
ok, let me ask some silly questions. are the front bass speakers are around 5 3/4"? is there an midrange speaker that can be installed just in case someone wants a three way component system? is the jl fix better than the rockford fosgate 3sixty.3? i'd like to upgrade the front stage but i want to make sure that i buy the right equipment before i start.
