Opened my sunroof and a trim piece fell off
It's hot out here and while most of us our still under warranty, you might want to open the sunroof and make sure the trim piece (accordion rubber seal) doesn't fall off like mine did. Dealership took care of it, but said it was caused by the heat wave we've been having here in los angeles.

If you're a DIY person, that accordion piece is somewhat easy to re-apply, just need to find the grooves that match to re-insert.
See image linked here. In the image, the trim piece I had fall out (sounds like the same piece) is #3 - it simply needs to be slid into a groove on piece #9 in the image. Take a look, may save you a trip to the dealer as it's pretty easy to apply. Mine on one side was not inserted correctly and kept coming out - when I inserted it correctly, I've had no more issues with it. Good luck.

sorry to raise this from the dead, but the lady has had this happen twice already within 3 months on her '15, still under warranty.
However, my question is, is there a permanent fix to this? Also, if I were to remove these pieces, would it do anything for functionality? I highly doubt it but would see if others may chime in on this.
TIA.

The first time they attempted to reattach the original on.
The second time they ordered a whole new part and replaced it under warranty.
I have an appointment for next Wednesday to bring her car in (for a third time)and they will give me a loaner and hopefully will give it a more in-depth diagnosis and actual fix to this issue.
I will update upon pickup as well as within a few month's time after to give a status report.
