What should Lexus focus on changing/improving for the next generation Lexus IS?
#63
wouldn't have such an issue with them if they were even mounted lower on the door.

But we definitely need a bump in power or a huge weight reduction. Other cars on the road have much smaller engines and footprints and put their power down more efficiently. With a turbo it doesn't always mean higher fuel consumption actually it could mean the opposite.
#66
If everything else remains constant, yes. However, the engines could be more efficient, transmissions could be geared better, and weight could be reduced. All these things working together could mean a reduction in gas consumption in spite of increased power. I think that's where competitors, particularly BMW and Audi, outshine Lexus, especially when it comes to the four-cylinder models.

yeah lexus models are VERY heavy (i didn't see this post til now) and to update... i'd like better brake feel. always thought they were kinda mushy. and the rear subframe mounts is too soft causing too much rear end movement. even for a non-F car.
#68
Agreed on the chassis dynamics of the rear. However, don't you have the F Sport brakes? Those are pretty touchy and give pretty good feel in my experience. Now the stock brakes, possibly not. I didn't get to really push the non-F-Sport hard during the test drive.

i really don’t think the IS needs a huge weight reduction... the IS300/350 AWD is 3737 lbs, 340i - 3710 lbs, C43 - 3759 lbs, S4 - 3869, but where everyone else gets it right is with power which everybody complains and wants more of including me. for a luxury brand to reuse a 10 year old engine is kind of embarrassing, along with all the interior issues that i agree with too

my wishlist though:
IS300 RWD & AWD same 2.0t engine with more throttle response or power judging on others on the forums
IS350/400 - 330-360 hp TTV6
ISF - 450-500 hp TTV6
heated rear seats
cooled seats that actually work
mark levinson being obtainable without special ordering
luxury + f sport combination possible or same options for both like BMW does
HUD
apple car play
more leather on the dash and door panels
higher quality materials in the center console

Also voted for a better engine and gearbox. Maybe go back to R6 and have different configurations of it. This paired with a good dual-clutch gearbox would offer some serious contest to the German rivals.
And ofcourse the infotainment system needs a complete redesign from scratch.
If they get the next one right, I will surely be looking towards the 4IS and will not go back to BMWs for a long time...

I actually don't think the engines are the issue, I think Lexus needs to square away their transmissions and their gear ratios. Those engines have enough power and torque to be putting down better numbers.
