What should Lexus focus on changing/improving for the next generation Lexus IS?

The first, second, and third gears in the six-speed are a bit too tall in my experience. The 8-speed seems a lot better in that regard, but it could even be better in terms of shift time. Genesis's 8-speed is the kind of experience they should go for - smooth when driven gently and nearly dual-clutch fast when driven spiritedly, with well-chosen ratios to boot.

Yeah the 8 speed was cool in its day but is showing its age. feels sluggish to me. likely due to lexus trying to balance sport and comfort, but leaning towards comfort. they should give F Sport trims the option for a sportier tune. I think lexus will start using the new 10 speed but i don't know how it performs.

Makes no sense

Ick, that's pretty much the same as the 6-speed in terms of gears 1-3, for an AWD IS anyway. Of course, you're talking about the 7,200-RPM LC 500 engine, I assume? With the V6 (assuming we keep it...) I would think those numbers would be a bit lower due to its lower redline.

I was just saying, due to the lower revs, it would top out at lower speeds, making it a non-apples-to-applies comparison between an IS 350 and LC 500. I would hope a turbo V6 of some size would end up in the new IS, which, again, more than likely won't rev all the way to 7,200.

- i have long legs, so i often kick the parking brake
- would've loved a place to put my phone in the middle console somewhere (a little led light shining in this area would be nice as well) ie. rsx and tsx have these lights. not a huge deal.

I haven't read this thread but pretty sure more power has been said. I'd like to see same weight and dimension but with 375-450 HP in top model. Need to be able to compete with BMW, Audi and Mercedes in that department. A manual model would be dream too but I doubt that will ever happen. I love my wife's IS but it lacks character on the road (handle's great but no excitement from the engine) and would life drivers car feel.
