Michelin AS3s has an issue with bubbles in their tires, I'd go with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06

This is why tires are a difficult thing... I've heard the Conti's are noisy on the highway. Though I would take noise over a legit problem.

I put on Yokohama Advan Sport A/S today. They don't have as much of that protruding lip near the rim bead like what the OE Turanzas have. I wanted a low noise tire that wouldnt break the bank, and these are about the same as the Turanzas for noise, not quieter, but not louder.

I had some outer wear on my front tires, so I just bought new rubber so I Could take curves a bit faster.

Do your Contis have a reduced lip protrusion vs the original Bridgestones?

nope, they do not.

is there a benefit to having a lip protrusion?

Curb rash on the rims.

are most people going with the 235 front and 265 rear combo when they replace tires or sticking to the OE size? the stock Turanzas always looked a little narrow for the rim from the factory

I believe 245 is max you "should" go for 8.0 inch wheels (Front) and 255 is max for 8.5 inch wheels (Rear). With that said I went with 235 and 255, there are few reports of rubbing during full lock with 245's on the front.

cool. any difference going with the 235/255 combo?

i was gonna do 235/265, michelin pilot super sports. perhaps 245/265?

although i guess this is rather pointless seeing as the car doesn't have the power to spin the tires now haha. i'd do it to fill the rim since it looks rather stretched from the factory

My whole point of going little wider on the front was to reduce understeer and as much as of square setup as possible. A proper alignment with camber kits would probably do better job at reduce understeering. I did get the Michelin PSS and they are Way too grippy for this car (is350). Dont get me wrong they are great tires. Super precise steering, great braking and great handling. But it is very hard to have "fun" with them. And i am never going to track this car at all as well as 99% of the IS owners.

So don't get too caught up on the performance aspect of the vehicle. It is not a sport car, it is a fun luxury sedan. I would just look for all around comfortable tires.

yeah i agree!

I also considered the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+

I assume that although these are all-seasons, they're better than the factory Turanzas? Although this is my commuter car, i didn't want to downgrade from the performance of the vehicle from the factory

thanks!

From the reviews the Michelin A/S 3+ are just as good as some of the Max Performance tires. But as you can see from here, many are complaining of the noise. My PSS are little louder on the highways going at high speed. But I don't notice them on the streets.

The A/S 3+ are loud though. That is their downside.

I hope I can buy new wheels soon and paid them with PSS. I'll stick to my A/S 3+ for the winter only.

yeah i don't mind a little more noise but just wanted to make sure that grip-wise, the A/S 3+ were better than the Turanzas.

my car has 33k miles on what i assume are original Turanzas, unless the previous owner got the same factory replacements.

Perhaps if they can last a little while longer until March 2018, I'll get the new "Pilot Sport 4 S" when they release more 18" sizes!
