Once in it, you have to put your foot on the brake and push the Start button again to pass the signal off to the fob.
Correct. In my BMW I can remote start the car and open the door without engine shutting off. Once you are inside, you do need to put your foot on the brake and press start/stop button to engage a connection with the keyfob. If no keyfob is detected, it tells you the 'Vehicle Key Missing' when you try to press the start/stop button and you ain't going nowhere lol.

I was always surprised my IS shut off once remote started upon opening the doors. Pretty stupid if you ask me, just added wear on the vehicle which is exactly why I never used it. My IS also didn't have remote start from the keyfob, it was through the app which was a pain since it look like 1-2 min to send the signal to start it.

My BMW you just press the lock button on keyfob 3 times, and it'll start up immediately withing like 5 seconds. I use it daily to warm up the vehicle.

But I don't understand why the car needs to turn off. For security reasons the car is locked how can anyone just get in and drive off if the doors are locked? I just don't see a point (for security reasons) for the car to turn off when you unlock the door.

I was gonna keep the remote start for all year around, but because of this im just gonna keep the subscription for winter.

Not sue if this has been stated, but you don't need a subscription to activate this feature. My subscription ended last month and the key fob remote start worked. I can't imagine using it since it shuts off the moment you open the door. FYI.

It won't last long. Your remote start via the fob usually lasts for about 2-4 weeks after your subscription ends. You will lose this ability without an active subscription.
