Default How do I go square on my IS 350 F-sport?

I think I would prefer going square for tire longevity. Any other pros or cons worth mentioning?

Keep it staggered. I had the same dilemma at first. it wont save much in rotations and the rear tires aren't much more expensive. I believe you would sacrifice handling of you go square and the 225 in rear would look awkward.

Depends what your intentions are in going square.
Are you going with larger wheels? (19 or 20 inch)
Are you thinking of putting F Sport rims (all the same size) all the way around?

The staggered fitment is mostly cosmetic. Consider you can buy the same version of the car in a square setup from the factory, so really, how important is the staggered wheels.
The alignment specs between the square setup models and the staggered setup models is slightly different, but nothing you'd ever notice driving the vehicle.
The staggered setup looks hella cool...no doubt.

235/35/19 @ 36 PSI all around, or 38PSI back, all to your preference and choice of tires. no rub, not lowered, no problem over humps... wheels last longer due to rotation. Im on my PSS for almost a year, still no need to change them.

Square reduces rear tire width.
I think it depends on how he gets from staggered to square.
If sticking with the F Sport rims, personally I would be putting 2 rears on the front, and not 2 fronts on the rear.
Although, personally, I would just get an entirely different set of rims in a better offset...that's just me though.
Oh wait...I did do that

Listen to Sasnuke guys, He's a wheel god here.

He recommended me 19 x 8.5 + 35 all around & 235/35/19. I know a few 3IS guys that did the same setup while going square. Buying the new rims/tires will be cheaper vs buying staggered. Plus longer tire life as well.

Performance wise, if its just a DD, you will not be able to tell the difference. Sure it may not look "cool", but its hardly noticeable unless you know what you're looking at.

I did the same 19x8.5 et35 with toyo tr1 235/35/19 XL and run 36psi at first same as the manual but felt sluggish with 2 adult passengers, tried with 38psi and it was better but felt it can be better with 40psi or more. When I check tiresize.com it suggest 42psi. 😲
Anyone who runs 40 or 42psi on their 235/35/19s?
Thanks

Is 235/35 really the widest you can safely go on the front with stock suspension?

I was kicking around the idea of a square setup myself when I got my 2021 IS F SPORT, but the idea of reducing tread width in the rear to a 235 in a rear-biased almost 4,000lbs AWD car didn't really appeal to me. Especially for performance driving. 265's all around on a 9.5" wheel, different conversation. Although going away from the staggered setup and in to a wider front tire might slow up the steering a bit. Stuck with the staggered 19's in the end and just upgraded the rubber in OEM sizes. Winter tires are 18" with 235/45/18 all around.

I'd say if you're not concerned with the reduction in contact patch with a narrower rear tire, go for it. If you're doing for performance/dynamics/grip reasons, you could still do it but maybe a good time to also invest in some more aggressive rubber in the process.

What would square set up be for the OEM wheels (F sport) if you wanted to go square? 235 / 35 / 18?
