So, i test drove a 2017 IS 350 F Sport RWD with 4500 miles which was the dealer demo car

I took a proper 20 minute test drive thrashing the car thru the Malibu Canyons with some tire squealing fun, then drove it home to show the wife.

Power felt pretty good for a N/A V6 motor, but felt no where close to my S4 which has a 3.0L V6 supercharged motor.

Suspension is a lot softer and turn in not as crisp compared to S4. Note, i'm on stock suspenion on S4, but i have an aggressive alignment on it.

Seats felt snugger compared to my S4 which i like.

Interior space felt about the same between the cars, except S4's trunk is a tad bigger.

Ya i'm comparing the S4 and i know they're in different class of cars....

Overall, i'm very satisfied with the car and i'll be picking up a 2018 model when it comes off the boat here in Los Angeles area.

Car will hopefully be here in December. I just have to leave a $500 deposit and fill out a credit app so the allocation can get re-directed from another dealership to my local one.

Here's what i'm getting:
2018 IS 350 F-Sport RWD $41,830. Ultra White Exterior. Rioja Red Interior
Comfort Package $1220 with Complimentary credit of $600
F Sport Package $2695
Intuitive Parking Assist $500
Mark Levinson/Navigation $2835
Cargo Net $65
Carpet Trunk Mat $105
Rear Bumper Applique $79
Rear Lip Spoiler $389 (should i get this wrapped in a carbon fiber vinyl wrap?)
Delivery $995

MSRP: $50,713

^^ Nicely equipped. Lexus is finally getting better about that on the F Sport packages.

The IS is a very fun car. Great choice!

sounds good! what color combo did you get? i also wouldn’t get the spoiler wrapped because it’s very weirdly shaped on the IS to begin with, it just won’t look right. i really wish i could of had the comfort package with mine the power steering wheel and memory seats are nice or have. if you ever are craving more power out of it though, just do the RR Racing tune!

Ultra White Exterior. Rioja Red Interior

If i do any mods, it will be simple boltons. I had my S4 for 7 years and only perfomance mods i did was catback exhaust and aftermarket rotors/pads. Plus, i had a recent newborn so priority went to the kids over the car obviously...

In Audi's world, if the dealer can detect a ECU tune in your car, your car might get the entire warranty voided....

On Lexus's website, a feature of this car says "When pushed to higher RPM, the IS 300 AWD and IS 350 F SPORT models are filled with a throaty engine note that complements the exhilarating performance of the vehicles themselves."

I actually noticed the engine sounded a lot angirer at higher rpm's. Do they pipe engine sounds thru the speakers? Or what other method they use to make the engine sound louder?

noise is piped through the cabin, but they use real engine noise from the intake. the 2017 IS350 has that but it’s new for the IS300 in 2018

I don't believe this is correct - my 2017 IS 300 F-Sport had the intake sound resonator/amplifier.

The sounds coming into the cabin area sounds kind of artificial.

Then again, i'm not accustomed to the engine/exhaust sounds of this car...

Lexus calls it the "Intake Sound Generator". It's essentially a baffle mounted on the intake that gets noisy around the 4000 RPM mark.

Ohh, i found it. Think i'll try adding one of those exhaust turbo whistles to the end of the sound generator now

there’s a button to slide to turn it on and off which the IS300 does not have

There is no on/off for the intake sound generator.
