traffic alert

The Pre-Collosion System will first alert with beeps and flash a message in the instrument cluster. If you are traveling below 20 mph, it will stop the car completely if no action is taken. If above 20 mph, it will slow the car down to mitigate the accident, but may not stop enough to completely avoid the accident.
There are a bunch of criteria that need to be met too and it's mentioned in the manual.

Warning message on dash. If your're traveling over 25mph, the car will gradually apply the brakes before completely stopping the car. However, like Dchar said, anything over 25mph with the PCS will still cause an accident, but will decrease the impact/damages.
Also... the person behind you, if not paying attention, may rear end you as well. Double-Edge Sword, my friend.

Mine warns me on curves where there is a guardrail since it senses it as a stationary object about to be hit lol.
The first time that I sped up to get in front of the car next to me, the PCS activated halfway through the lane change and hammered on the brakes. Suddenly I was going slower than the guy I just merged in front of, and could not accelerate again for several seconds. Spirited driving and PCS don't work well together, but I'm scared to turn it off. I love it, and hate it.
