im thinking about at getting a 3IS and have the same concerns. A quick solution would be to remove the fuse tied to pin 6. But this may make the homelink useless among other items. Another option would be to cut the pin 6 wire and tap it into the pin 1 wire.
Pin 1 (Blue): Ignition Power
Pin 2 (Puple): Ground
Pin 3 (not on ewd?)
Pin 4 (Green): Signal for light control
Pin 5 (White): Signal for light control (both are MPX)
Pin 6 (Pink): Power
Pin 1 is fused with the 10A IG1 NO.3 fuse
Pin 6 is fused with the 10A MPX-B NO.1 fuse
i think I found a solution to rewire without cutting/tapping the OEM wire so the homelink will only work when the car is turned on.
With this harness you can locate and cut the pin 6 wire and then tap it into the pin 1 wire.
So I found a frameless auto dimming mirror that is plug and play for my 2016 IS 350 F Sport. You’ll need this Gentex Mirror and Gentex 50-9010227001M Cable Cover. You can’t see the buttons on the bottom but it has homelink and some other smarthome functions that work though the Bluetooth on your phone. I haven’t messed with those yet.
The best part about this mirror is that it doesn’t get power after the car is turned off. Perfect for when you need to park your car outside.
