Engine Coolant Temperature High then back to normal
Hello all,
this is my first post in club Lexus and I am hoping I found the correct place for my question to be answered.
I drive a 2016 is200t.
Just hit 20k miles.
Recently I started getting a message that my engine coolant temperature is high. Obviously it wasn't a joking matter and I started looking what it could be.
From my observations the message only stays on the screen for about 3-5 seconds and then the gauge shows that the temperature is back to normal.
I have a feeling that engine coolant sensor sensor is tweaking because there is no way engine coolants temperature can cool down that much in 5 seconds.
My question in, does anyone know what could be the issue or my observations are correct?
Also I am having difficult times locating the sensor.
I will pleased to hear anything on this matter.

Personally, I wouldn't even bother trying to diagnose and I'd just make a service appointment, assuming you're still under warranty.

Coolant temperature high then back to normal.
did you ever figure out why the coolant temperature was going high for a few seconds then going back to normal? My 2016 is 200t is doing the same thing. Except I have 65000 miles now.

Yes lol
As stupid as it sounds I just had to add coolant
Bought mine from AutoZone, I believe it was a pink color.
Check how much there is in both of your reservoirs.
Should be a very easy fix.
