Default Car outlet

Hey, is anyone else's car outlet produce really slow power? Like I have been at 5% battery on my phone and have it connected to the outlet. My battery will drain and shutoff when I am using waze, the outlet can't keep up. I have tried just plugging it in to the USB and that is even slower. I have tried a power inverter to try to get more out of it and still won't keep up. I now keep a portable battery pack in the center console so I am not stranded in an unfamiliar place. Is this a common problem? I have a 2014 is250 base

If you're using a Samsung phone with Quick Charge Functionality, you need to use a charger that has "Qualcomm Quick Charge" functionality

If you use a regular slow charger in your cigarette lighter while using GPS, your phone's battery will drain faster than it can charge..

USB plug in the console is mainly for ipod interface and updating firmware i believe. You'll have to find a USB cigarette adapter with an ouput thats 2.5 Amps or above to use your phone and charge fast.

Hmm well the inverter I have says it should pull power for the fast charge. I am not sure why it doesn't work better. I will order the one you posted, thanks!

You won't need an inverter if you have the proper cigarette lighter charger...

That power inverter should work. If you plugged your wall brick into that power inverter is it charging fast? if not might be down to the cable you're using.

If the inverter and/or phone doesn't have the Qualcomm Quick Charge chips in them, they can't take full advantage of the fast charging capabilities.

Your inverter is powerful enough, but lacks the Qualcomm chips...

Note 8 uses Adaptive fast charging, which apparently it only fast charges when the screen is off. But the phone should still take a 5V 2A (10W) "dumb" charge, which should be fast or at least provide enough for on-screen use.

My Galaxy S6 phone does quick charge when i'm running my Waze app and it can fully charge in about 1 hour, even with Waze running. I'm not aware of Note 8 not doing Quick Charge when the screen is on. You need to find a charger that has the Qualcomm Quick Charge capability embedded in it. There are many manufacturers that sell chargers with Quick Charge, but I just have a personal preference to Anker's products

I don't think there is such a thing as an inverter with a Qualcomm Quick Charge chip. Even a quick amazon search doesn't yield any result. If an inverter (depending on wattage) is able to charge up a laptop, it should be able to fast charge a phone if you use a qualcomm quick charger brick.

We are talking about an inverter like this,
https://www.amazon.com/BESTEK-300W-Power-Inverter-Adapter/dp/B004MDXS0U/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1516909062&sr=1-4&keywords=car+inverter? https://www.amazon.com/BESTEK-300W-Power-Inverter-Adapter/dp/B004MDXS0U/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1516909062&sr=1-4&keywords=car+inverter?
.Just don't use the USB port that's built-in.

LOL get yourself a 12V to USB adaptor instead of lugging that huge inverter brick around.
Any adaptor that has 2A output will do.

Edit:
I think the OP is very confused about what to use.
An inverter converters DC to AC current. It will not yield higher Amperage just because it is an inverter and will not help you charge your phone faster. Your inverter has AC outlets, which you are not using. The USB ports probably has 0.5-1A output, that is why your phone is not charging as fast. All you need is a 12V to USB adaptor with at least 2A of output.

no he doesnt need the power inverter, but the power inverter outputs 2.4A and the phone still isnt fast charging. So i think its the wire that wont allow it... you don't need qualcomm quick charge to charge a phone fast its just a form of quickcharging, just like how samsung provides the "adaptive fast charge" brick, which only works with the screen off.
