Car got keyed....
Woke up this morning to this art work on the passenger side of my 2014 IS 350. I haven't had to deal with this before so I just wanted to get some advice on what I should do. I did the fingernail test and I'm able to feel the scratch so I'm assuming it's through the clear coat and into the paint. Any recommendations will help. I know she's dirty, it just rained here....

Just based on the pic, you're looking at a body shop to paint that side of the car.
I can't imagine any kind of buffing is going to make that better...especially that bottom one on the right. Damn!
Sorry man, that sucks!!

Sucks to hear about what happened, dang haters. Vandalism is covered under the comprehensive portion of your auto insurance policy.
Fewer and fewer people are courteous these days, someone door dinged my car. It's not as bad as being keyed, just having personal property ruined is just sucky.

that sucks man. from the looks of it, those 2 panels will need to be repainted. choose a really, really good body shop..that's all I can say.
I had a wrx that was keyed 2 weeks after I got it and the 1st shop I took it to sucked so bad that I would rather have left that key marks there. seriously, that's how incompetent they were.

I've been looking into getting it wrapped so I may just end up going that route.

At least if you get it painted, that should reduce or eliminate the chance of rust. If you wrap on top the scratches, 1) you might still see the scratch very faintly 2)it will accelerate any rust that might have formed.

You may want to still get it fixed before the wrap. If the scratches went to the metal, then there is a chance rust can start.

Not claiming on insurance? Looks like it needs more than touch up job by a specialist (this guys do magic on small scratches) Parked outside? When I see something like this my blood pressure goes up!

My deductible is $1000 so depending on other estimates that I get putting a claim in for it wouldn't be worth it. And yeah, I was parallel parked outside so someone on the side walk decided to do this as they passed by.

Must be your neighbors, i avoid to park near CHEAP **** cars, that what my boss told me, i got 2 dents last year too, what you can do ? go scratch every single car in that street parking see how they feel. damn i hate jealous people.

No kidding, I usually avoid parking near cheap or old cars but that doesn't stop some idiot that walks by and swipes at my car. I don't understand what compels someone to do that? I don't know of anyone that has it out for me, so I think it was just a random thing.

Take it to a few more reputable shops and see what they say. Good luck with everything, man. It’s a ****ty feeling for sure.

It may be worth checking with your insurance if that is something that would be covered under the uninsured motorist portion. My wife's car was once hit in a parking lot while she was inside, no one left a note or took responsibility. The insurance covered the repair under uninsured motorist and we were not responsible for a deductible. It's worth a shot!
