I doubt that the mode has any bearing on the exhaust/engine sound, but just trying to help you eliminate some possibilities.
I have done that and it sounds quiet like normal. I'm going to check the airbox and other items to see if anything is loose. I don't recall hitting anything abnormal driving it home yesterday. The whole thing is quite perplexing as it's only happening in Normal or Sport.

Actually the 2018 IS 300 (200t) does have the active sound control. Idk about the 16’ and 17’ IS 200t I would be surprised if they didn’t have it if the 18’ has it.
