The IS200t was designed and favored more of the comfort ride, low fuel consumption. From stand-still to about 3500-4000...you feel NOTHING. Lexus chose to not even put in the fake engine noise that a lot of their car have now (I forgot what Lexus calls it...ASM? AMS? Can’t remember.
But it a lot of car companies do this now. Even the new BMW M3...which has so much heritage and history...has fake engine noise pumped into the cabin via speakers.
I think that the GS-F has a...”air tunnel” from leading from the bay into the cabin that...at certain conditions, will trigger a valve to open, letting in some of the real engine noise into the cabin. It’s glorious.

The IS200t is basically a Corolla in a tux. Yes, the motor is a damn good motor that’s been tuned waaaay down from its potential and you get the premium interior because you’re still buying a Lexus. BUT...

Also Lexus says the 2.0T makes full torque (258 ft lbs) from 1,650 RPMs. Yes from 0 to 1,650 there's a lag but not sure where you're getting 3500-4000. *Additionally, * if one gets a burger stage 1 add-on, you're making around 300 lbs. That's more than the IS350's 280 lbs. Pretty cheap upgrade for argument's sake.
Anyway.. for comparison, Lexus says the 350 needs 4,800 RPM to reach that full torque of 280 ft lbs.

I've heard numerous times that people dislike the feel of the 200t compared to the 350, but I don't think I buy it. Having driven 4-cylinder and six-cylinder Lexus models, I don't really understand the issue. If you drive a mainstream 4-cylinder car, like say a 4-cylinder Camry, and then drive an IS with the 4-cylinder, it's a night-and-day difference. The IS feels more taut and solid than the average car. I think it's partly down to the smoothness of the six-cylinder. I mean I won't pretend like the ES 350 doesn't have a more pleasing driveline than the NX 300, but overall the NX doesn't feel cheap or like a dressed-up RAV4. I've been in modern RAV4s a couple of times, and the NX is clearly superior in terms of noise and comfort. I mean, the IS even has a separate platform from the Corolla, so there's no comparison (but we already knew that...).
