Default Looking for more information of the 8AR-FTS

Hey guys, I am looking for more information about the specs and pictures of the Lexus IS300 F-sport and its engine. I just picked one up at the dealership on Saturday (I switched from an AMG E55). I have always wanted a toyota (Lexus) i4 turbo like the old 1997 JGTC Supra race cars.

I have been looking the web. I can't find any videos, Seethrough drawing or anything of the car or the engine. Any one can help?

Thank you

I’m confused, your post makes it seem like you already bought the car so what do you mean that you want a picture of the engine? Are you asking for a diagram of the engine? Lol

This is awesome. Thank you very much!

Also are there any cutout drawings for the IS300 turbo? Like this one:

You are wanting to learn about your car that's cool. But i'll sum it up: slowest car/slowest 4 turbo in its class and you have to spend gobs of money and make your car pollute to make it run neck and neck (if that )with a stock IS350. The engine isn't all that cool. So much so that for the new Supra 4 cylinder that's coming out, Toyota, instead of going with the already-existing 8AR-FTS, they've decided to go with the superior BMW B48 4-turbo powerplant.

I do appreciate your reply, and i do agree with you. But, how much bhp do we really need for the street? Most people don't cruise over 120mph. Witj my E55 I didn't use more than 50% of the power 90% of the time. If I wanted a track car i already got my GT3.

After trying several cars I picked the IS300 F sport because it's engine is rev happy (happy revving) and is the second most fun small car from Toyota. It's like a bigger Gt86. Fun at lower speeds but rather stable cruising at 130 in the inner state. I think it has enough power for what it is. Moreover, Hp in cars have become a papers thing instead if considering the real world application. Furthermore, this engine has some amazing engineering innovations.

Honda's 1.5 turbo motor (L15B) is far superior to the B48 lol.

Can you elaborate on this or provide a link? Genuinely curious, thanks!

For what it is - entry-level engine, Lexus's mere SECOND application of it, too - it's pretty good. The point of the 3IS has never been outright straight-line speed anyway - so I agree with the sentiment of not wanting/needing more power. However, I think E46CT was simply trying to allude to the fact that there are other more powerful, and perhaps more efficient, options in the segment. That doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of why you got the car though.

Found a pretty interesting post about this, with info from the Lexus Handbook: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...cyl-turbo.html Particularly the wastegate valve stuff.

The engine could have been better, turbo lag galore, horrible MPG, while being slowest in its class. It does have decent power for the street provided you drive it hard. I average 19MPG with about 70% HWY. This would have been fine if I had an RCF. Needless to say, when my lease is up I will be getting the 350 next or the V8 RCF.

How in the world are you getting 19 MPG on the highway that’s not normal. If I drive normally on the highway I get easily 27-28 MPG. Even with some city driving I get avg like 24-25 mpg.
