Botched rim repair
Car was in for service about 45 days ago and I asked the SA to have both my front rims repaired due to some curb rash etc. got the car back and everything looked great. I noticed over the next few weeks that even after washing my rims by hand that there were water spots or dirt still present. It appeared that a clear coat was sprayed right over the dirty area when repaired. Next the clear coat and what appears to be rattle can spray paint started chipping off.
I kindly called my SA and asked them to take a look, he agreed it was a crappy job and will have them re-repaired (under wheel and tire coverage)
Well the car was ready today and was told via phone that the rims look brand new.
Went to pick up the car and well the attached pictures explain the rest.
Here is the repaired rim.. the color is way off and wayyyyy to shiny
Here is another rim which was not "repaired" the original finish and color
I wasn't to upset just frustrated and asked to speak with the service manager not to point the finger but to ask for a solution. He apologized and seemed sincere but not sure what can be done here.. will the paint ever match??
The car is back in for service and the wheel repair company they use will be out tomorrow.
Anyone have such experience? I only have experience with wheels they have a machine finish..

I agree it's a bit on the shiny side but your stock wheels are a bit on the dull side. i wash mine regulalry and even wax them and they're pretty glossy.
i would give your stock wheels a bit of a clean and polish by hand with some store bought stuff. it'll take some elbow grease but it'll bring them closer to your newly painted wheel.

I got the car back today it looks great! I am weary about durability and the possibility of it chipping again, then what?

From what I have heard and read. It's almost impossible to duplicate the color on these wheels.
It's a multi-step paint process done at the Lexus factory so matching the color and finish once the rims been re-painted will be difficult. The best solution is to paint them all. Even if the color isn't exactly OEM. At least they'll match.

This kind of sums up why I didn't take the tire/wheel protection plan. They will fix the wheels, but the quality of work seems worse than the rash.
If I do have a problem, I will have to pay out-of-pocket, but I will take it to my detailing place that does impeccable work.
BTW, I am guessing that dealers farm out this work to wheel repair specialists. Maybe, they offer repair work to the lowest bidder.

So I am actually going through a very similar issue with my 2008 and my dealer. To sum it up they are on the 4th attempt now to get the color matched up and I have zero confidence it is going to happen. (Do I really even want a wheel that they have repainted multiple times?) I have already found some OEM refurbished wheels I may just end up getting in the end. Seeing as my car is getting older and the finish on my wheels is starting to show its age I may just replace them all if they can't get a match on the one they are still messing with.
