Question Any (Mountain) Bike Riders Here? Need Suggestions!

Hi, just wondering if you have an IS and sometimes haul around your Mountain Bike.

Do you just fold down the seats and stick your bike in the trunk or have any more suggestions preferably with pix?

I have a 350 FSport. Thanks!! PS >>> Don't really want to install a roof rack.

I have a trunk rack I got on eBay for 50$ that fits 2 bikes. But I haven’t dared putting it on my IS. Luckily I have a spare vehicle. Even on my spare car, my pedals usually hit the bumper and trunk area. So no chance

Ive seen quite a few builds in the build thread section who have roofracks. Im sure you could pick one up for a few hundred dollars. Theyre specifically made for our car im sure.

Here are quite a few options:

I refuse to use a roof rack due to the stance bro put stickers on my rack calvin and hobbes type sticker stigma that comes with it. lol.

I like the idea of a trunk rack... more efficient cause it lies in the cars aerodynamic wake rather than being a part of it. Plus with a roof rack you are encouraged to leave it on the roof when you get lazy and absolutely floors gas mileage.

but good thing I got a CT... i can just throw the bike in the back =)

Ya, as per the OP as well as majority of users, do not want nor will get a roof rack. Do any 3rd Gen IS drivers satisfactorily throw bikes in their trunks??

For those who might be interested there's lotsa interesting, unique, and competitively priced trunk bike racks on AMZN. In fact I bought one for my old GS300 but not sure I want to use it on my (new) IS350.

Let me know if you want me to post the links. Thanks!!

PS >>> just out of curiosity do Lexus drivers ever have "Meetups" in (Greater or West) Los Angeles ~ can you send the info?

i’ve only put my men’s large bike in my trunk once. i had to take out my sub and remove the front wheel.

i’ve looked into rack options:

roof rack is pricey. trunk racks are cost effective, but can be stolen easily, unless you remove them when not in use. also, by using trunk racks, it’ll probably scatch your vehicle.

currently not biking, so.. rack plans are on hold.

I take both wheels off a fatbike and place the bike frame on a blanket in the rear seat area---and the wheels in the trunk.... On the weekends (with the wife), 2 fatbikes get transported similarly inside the the IS350. Takes 30 seconds to breakdown or set-up each bike----and, the bikes are out of sight and out of the elements.

Editorial/opinion/inquiry: Why in the holy hell does Lexus not have folding rear seats in the ES, GS or LS???.... My next car will/must have: AWD, rear folding seats, a hatchback, AND more than soccer-mom-grocery-gett'n pedestrian performance. Prolly an Audi S7. Will pass on any SUV or crossover----which all, to me, handle as well as a refrigerator on a skateboard. Rant over. Thanks.

Ya the bike is ordered and picking it up soon. Quick Release Wheels is a great invention(!!) so THINK taking the front wheel off should be OK for fitting in the trunk. Think I probably might already know but just in case what is "sub"?

TBH, in MN even with snow & ice, you don't need AWD if ya get good snow tires. Why do ya want AWD? Uses more gas, mechanics, heavier, etc. RWD FTW!!

Spoiler

Thanks for the cut-n-paste AWD lecture, inquiry and judgment... .........Surely, everybody has the same local driving style, routes, patterns and conditions everywhere, and therefore should head such advice.

BTW, good luck shov'n the bike in...........
