I wonder if the Akebono pads play nice with the stock pads. Meaning, you can merely swap them in and the pad materials don't clash and give you crazy squealing.

crazy prices, he said. Well, lexus dealership wanted 300 bucks for rotor resurfacing + new f sport pads. If I were to go with buying new rotors and pads from them, it would be 380+tax (no labor cost included). Buying the same OE parts online would make me spend 220 (including delivery cost). I mean, those prices are just dealerships being dealerships...that’s all.

If it's really OEM stuff you want, just buy the stuff online from a dealership that'll sell it to you a little over cost, every make has those. Then just have someone local put them on for you. With this particular thing it's not rocket-science, easy stuff, no need to pay dealership prices for parts/labor IMO.

Usually I like to work on my own cars. It is only if I cant do some kind of repair (either due to a need of having expensive tools or expertise), I will pay a good mechanic or a dealer to do that for me. Changing brake pads and/or rotors on my is350 is easier comparing to my Corolla. And either job fades in complexity comparing to what I went through when changing front struts on my Corolla. Spring clamps on springs in order to remove the old struts....all that fun stuff...

also, i have talked to a local parts store. They do not do rotor turning, but some nice automotive mechanics next door(recommended by that store) do...for 20 bucks per rotor (if you give them just the rotors). So, thank you once again for the info.

I just replaced my front and rear rotors with oem rotors this weekend. dealer wanted 320$ to resurface all 4....i said no thanks. for that price i'll buy new rotors and put them in myself which i did. very easy to do, took about 1 hour for all 4 and i was taking my time cleaning and anti seizing.
