Default Auto headlight question

this may be lame, but I can’t find any info here after searching for it. I’m trying to figure out if my 14 IS headlight switch is malfunctioning. I keep the fog light switch in “on” position when I turn the head light switch selector to auto.

When i do this the headlights and fog lights come on, then after s couple seconds, the fog lights go out. I then turn the headlight switch to the always on position and fog lights come back on and stay on. This does not seem right, but can’t find anything regarding in the owners manual.

any thoughts?

The foglights turn off whenever the highbeams turn on. and back on when highbeams go off.

Thanks for respondingvto my question. Yea, I realize that, but my hi beams aren’t engaged. I just turn light switch to the “auto” position headlights and fog lights come on, but then fog lights go off in a second or two.

Do you have auto highbeams as an option? Are your fogs aftermarket like some members here? When are you testing this, day time night?

I do not have auto hi-beams, they are OEM fog lights, Tested in my garage this morning.

Thx

Pittsy, Thanks for the help. I'm kinda stumped on why this would be happening. Seems weird. If in auto mode the headlights come on and the fog lights came on with the fog light switch in the on position, but the fog lights then went off after a couple seconds. Kinda stumped here..

Can you check all the fuses and relays? Im not sure if any of the fuses in our car are snap action or not, but if they are that would explain it. Maybe a relay has gone bas as well.
