Question Should I?

I currently have a 2014 IS250 Fsport with 65k.
My wife had previously a CT200H, again previously - as in several years ago.

I see a 2016 F sport CT200H for sale, but has 69K.
I am consider trading it in for the HB, and better mpg.
However, being a bit on the higher end of mileage for a 2016....
How is the battery / cell on these hybrid? est lifespan on them?

Should consider a Prius instead?
I would not trade in unless the dealer pays my car off.

2016 CT200 F going for $18,988 before tax

Mine is 2014 IS250 F sport with BSM - Debt at $18k.

Yay or nay or go for a newer car like a 2018+ Prius HB or Civic HB?

Point is to get more room, mpg and reduce my mo. payment

+1, way overpriced.

From my research back in 2013-2015 when I owned a CT 200h, batteries start going out around the 150-200k mark and they are not insanely pricey to replace. I think it was about $2-3k?

having been a previous CT owner and now an IS owner, the CT was miserable to drive compared to the IS and the interior quality was much lower in the CT.

Same. The CT is miserably slow....but that 40+ MPG was nice tho.

Perhaps I'll consider a prius or Civic HB.
I'm looking to have lower payments and better mpg.

23-24 mpg and filling up 1-1.5/week is getting pricey....

I find the interior in the CT to be superior in some respects. The doors shut more solidly. Another thing is it has seals around the B pillar whereas the IS doesn't have. In some respects the CT is more premium. The CT in F Sport trim handles pretty good for what it is. The chassis also has Yamaha body dampers/reinforcement front and back. nice touch.

Go for the 15 model. It has reinforced structure to protect your legs. The A pillar, sill plate, and door are reinforced for 15+. After 15, there's no significant or meaningful changes. So you are wasting money on a 16 on up at this point.

The battery is lifetime for all intents and purposes. Last well beyond 200k. Well... well.. well beyond.

And even if then, it's 1-2k rebuild at most shops. Some even DIY for literally dollars.

Here's my two.

I love the way the CT doors shut... they have that whooooooooooooosh-thunk sound. The chief engineer for the CT team said they had a whole department work on the doors alone. this was one of their chief goals. to make the doors solid.

I was a bit disappointed with the IS. not cheap feeling, just not really good feeling. just slightly above average.

I can tell you coming from a Toyota Camry, the IS feels great.

I think the way the doors shut is better from the outside, if that makes sense. They certainly shut more solidly than the RC's doors, for example. I do think they could be better - Genesis G80 comes to mind as having awesome door-shutting sounds.

My IS doors are fairly good now because I've dampened the exterior door skins in precise areas. I do this to all my cars to decrease reverberations. Did it to my CT too to increase the quality even further.

This post has gone pretty awry but I'm pretty sure Audi/ Volkswagen prides themselves on having solid door shutting sounds/ quality. They actually used to run a commercial where the kids toys are stuck in a tree until a guy comes and closes his door knocking all the toys out. Haha

yep Audi has the best doors in terms of shutting quality. particularly older models. not sure about the newest ones, haven't tested.

BMW E39 doors are one of the best as well. definite top 5.

Yeah I had an A4 B6 (03') and if someone slammed the doors it would damn near feel like bursting your ear drum. The doors were HEAVY.
