I'm still mad I didn't get that interior. Only 800 miles on my car, anyone want to trade for black? lol
It's funny you say that. I like the red too, and so do most people. However, I drove a 2018 with the black interior, and found that I like it, but in a different way. I think black will wear better over time, or at least, it should, and just has a more mature look. I think it also helped that the new clock and center console were in the 2018, which might make the comparison a tad unfair.
So yeah, if you want to go down to a 300 be my guest... It's just a tune away from being a 350, lol. (Except for the AVS, which I admit, I could feel the difference.)
I have to be honest, I've been in love with all my past several cars (Acura TL, Subaru STi, Exige), but haven't really fallen in love with this one. I think I'm secretly waiting for the new one to come out and hope to be blown away. At that point I'm going to say forget all the special deals at the end of the year and just get exactly what I want.
Looks great, boss. Well done. I never liked red interiors when I was younger and determined to have "anything but", but then again that was the old 70s American cars and it just looked gaudy. The rioja red in the IS is very well done, and certainly should out-perform/outlast the tan.
Im not really trying to do this for others since it’s a home DIY job and my time and what I would want might not be worth it to some.
I hear you. You've inspired me to attempt this if I find the matching vinyl. I'll look around locally. Real talk, good work and I think you just pioneered a cheap mod for 3IS owners.
Have you guys found any info on where to buy this vinyl from?
I was able to import some faux leather from China that was nearly the same tone as Roja Red but it goes by many names in asia. Crimson, Wine Red, Dark Rose, etc....
However I wasn't able to location smooth leather or punched leather, mainly lychee print leather which honestly isn't that bad.
I need to redo mines since it was my first time doing interior aesthetics and working with spray adhesive. Since I now know how it works, I can def. get it better.
Bringing a super old thread back to life. For those that may ever be in the need to find some replace Rioja Red Vinyl for repairs or customizations I was able to find an exact match from Sailrite.com direct link (https://www.sailrite.com/Ultraleather-Fabric-54-Chianti). The pictures on the website don't do justice, I ended up buying a bunch of samples and found the perfect match.
