Default Minor Bumper Repair Estimate

Just had some minor damage on the bumper. Maybe I'm just having bad luck with the shops but $1100 Quotes to repair this seem insane. Any body shop people on the forum can give an insight??

Are they replacing the bumper? It sounds about right if so. New bumper, install, repaint, blend quarter panels (if you opt for that).

No they aren't replacing the bumper and they won't even repaint the entire bumper, just sand down and paint those areas. Use heat and try fixing that large rash.

Not a good price then. You could get a brand new OEM bumper and have it painted for that amount. Go somewhere else very fast!

That's too much - I have had good luck - three times - with damage like that for $225 for a repair. Even a new bumper, which is not necessary, shouldn't be what you are being quoted. And if that shop reports to CARFAX it will be shown as a car with an accident.

The bumper repair technology has improved - I had a little repair done 25 years ago and the clear coat peeled a bit after about a year, but the good news was Lexus then paid to have the bumper removed and refinished at their expense, I didn't quite understand why but did not complain. More recent repairs have been perfect matches and no peeling.

way too much. i'd just touch it up.

you can also repair that yourself body shop level quality in your garage with rattle cans (good rattle cans)

the IS bumper is easy to paint due to the large grill. you can just paint that one side and mask the rest off.

but if you have a shop do that, should be a $600-$700 job.

I was third car in a three car minor accident. Someone hit the car behind me into me. The total repair cost with a new rear bumper cover and lower valance was $1550. That was for a lexus replacement. $1100 for a repair isn't actually too bad. an OEM lexus front bumper is about $1000 (from lexus) alone.

They aren't replacing his front bumper though...it's way too high.

Like I said, the front front bumper from Lexus is around a grand alone, so $1100 is too bad. It's high, but to too bad for a repair and paint.

It absolutely is way too high for a small repair. Just because a bumper cover from Lexus is expensive doesn't make it "worth it" to spend $1100 on a repair.

I am getting my 2014 bumper cover replaced by Lexus dealer as I write this due to parking lot stop/rebar mishap- $1100 total. The OEM bumper cover is <$500. - rest is labor.

If you want to get taken for $500+ more than it should cost...again I'll say the bumper is not getting replaced, so to fix that little area and a full repaint (even if you factor in blending which he never mentioned) it would not cost $1100. If you feel like it's a good deal, you've probably been taken on a ride a few times.
