The 3IS has a unique smell

Smell is a subjective thing for the most part but it appears many of you are experiencing what I am. Again, no dirt, no perfumes, mostly use water and a towel to wipe it down. Just the inherent "sweet" smell of the interior parts. Thanks for the feedback.

one of the main reasons I hate the car. I mean I love it but we barely get any visibility with the rear window so small. You would think Lexus would add a rear defroster option, especially when your spending so much money on a car

is the rear defroster an option? i've never owned a car that didn't come with a rear defroster. my is350 certainly has one.

My red 2019 interior smells like new car. I have a problem with sweet-smelling candles so I imagine I'd notice sweet-smelling interior materials. I primarily smell carpet; my trunk smells the most and it is all the same scent.

My car smell changed dramatically when I changed the cabin air filter to another brand. Not liking the new smell (slight chemical), I started dropping a few drops of pure eucalyptus oil on 2-3 make-up removal patches (which I also use to lube the barrel on my firearms), this created a mild sweet fragrance. Learned this from a taxi driver in NYC. Many Uber/Lyft drivers also dabble with essential oils on these swabs. Just be sure to use a small amount and get the real essential oil and not the chemically made one. Favorite essential oils--eucalyptus, vanilla, citrus or even blueberry.
Some guys use a mild cologne on a small sponge under the seat. Once the car smell sets in to the carpet and leather, it stays for months.

Most major manufacturers have their own unique smell, some more so then others.
BMW and Mercedes has the strongest unique scent, followed by Lexus, Toyota and Honda are pretty mild. My wife jokes that I could tell which manufacturer auto I was in by the smell of it with my eyes close.
The scent is cause by the material used for the cabin and gas out process, especially the non leather seats. The Mercedes MbTex like the Lexus Nulux has a much stronger scent then the true leather version. My Is3 is much stronger then my previous GS and LS, my previous GLK and C class was much stronger then the CLK500 or E500 with real leather.
