Default Headlight adjustment Q

So, after lowering the car, the headlights are aimed a little low. I have the auto leveling ones but they are still not aimed high enough. Are the auto ones adjustable? Is there a different process versus the non-auto aim?

dynamic auto leveling (first introduced by BMW) as well as first for HID headlamps too auto level based on a static adjustment. they don't make the static adjustment. they just compensate for dive and pitch/load. They could be pointed towards the sky and they'll still do their jobs.

the static adjustment is set first. so no matter the car you'll have to set it manually if it's not correct to begin with.

do you have the LEDs such as on the F Sport? I've never really looked into it but thought i saw my headlights make micro adjustments as i'm driving. but can't be too sure. Could be in my head.

The LED headlamps don't have a sharp cutoff so i am not sure there is a need for auto leveling. The whole reason auto leveling was introduced was because HID cars had the problem of distracting oncoming drivers due to the intensity+sharp cutoff.

So I assume you have the HID model (non f sport)

I do have the LED and also the auto leveling. I figured the auto level had a "base" starting point that has changed since the front spring lowered a little more than rear.

Yes they can be adjusted. I wasn't happy with the factory aim, so I spent the better part of two weeks making minor adjustments here and there until I was happy. The auto-leveling still works. You should note that it doesn't take that much of turning the screw to significantly affect the aim. I would go quarter to half turns at a time and test it on the road.

Edit: You have the non-AFS ones right?

AFS? You mean the ones that turn when you turn?

RX users probably assume 3IS has AFS (turning lights) as the RX has AFS

And I wouldn't worry about leveling this or that. nothing to do with your issue.

just adjust the headlights turning the screw as you would any car.

i don't lose too much sleep about setting the light to a pre-determined level found on the interwebs.

just park along side a wall and level ground and make sure the headlight beam is pointing straight and slightly down over a long distance (towards the end) it should have a downward trajectory. never upward.

Also don't expect miracles. our lights have strong foreground but weak distance. so it will always appear "low."

mines maxed out distance wise and i still can't see far enough.

that's where my custom setup in my CT comes into play. long distance punisher.

Yeah, I know how they "should" be, just didnt want to jack up the auto level and end up having one go "lazy eye" on me... lol

No, mine are non-AFS. I'm on mobile so I can't see location/sigs. Wanted to make sure my post was relevant to OP in case there was a difference between the systems I wasn't aware of.
