Hmmm the plugs should be replaced at 40k miles for the 4 banger turbo. So at your mileage it should be fine.

I would replace those plugs. They are good for 40K Miles...but also 48 months.
While it's a 2016, at least 36 months have passed already...if not more.

It's like having 4 tires that are 3/32 and then one gets a nail.
Do you plug it and get a few more months out of all the tires, even though they won't grip well in the rain, or do you take that as a sign to replace all 4 tires now.

Also previously there were concerns possibly with the fuel, so the plugs could have potentially taken a little bit more of a beating than usual.

Yeah, I suppose. I just wouldn’t worry too much if you’re not having issues. Especially since for plugs the time isn’t as important considering the wear is when the car is on and running. Just my opinion. I would go with the mileage.

That's a fair point. The member is having issues with Knocking, hence the reason why the plugs were removed.
Additionally low mileage is not always a good thing...it could indicate a vehicle that is driven every day, but very few miles each day...which is not the best.
I guess when looking at service intervals, all aspects have to be considered about vehicle usage.
The plugs are definitely on their last legs.

I definitely agree his spark plugs look like they are getting there. Also considering the issues he’s had I would definitely change them.

FYI, For the 2014 IS350 awd Lexus canada online manual says replace spark plugs at 192,000 kilometers (119,303 miles) . The IS250 awd and rwd also say it is 192,000 kilometers.
But..... for the 2015 models it says replace at 96,000 km (59,651 miles)
for the 2016 models say replace 96,000 km only for the IS300, the IS350 is 192,000 km and IS 200T is at 128,000 km
Lexus make up your mind!! lol.

@lexuscanuk Any chance you can link or screen shot any of that? I had found different info with 96,000kms as the replacement interval on my own car (IS250). My initial guess was 192K...now I'm just confused lol
Talk about a hurricane of replacement intervals...lol

Ok...it's all over the EFFING map with that maintenance scheduler.
If i do it by how old my vehicle is in months, it says to change plugs at 96,000kms in August of 2019. My 2014 IS250AWD is an early production MY 2014...I think it was built August 2013....so its 67 months old.
If i do it by mileage and distance driven per month, it says to change it at 192,000kms in August 2030. I have 53000kms and I drive about 1000kms per month...so not very much I admit.

Eff it, I'm changing it at 96K and Lexus can bite me!! LOL!!!

I have played with the numbers for the 2014 IS350awd and if you choose:

by months: Any month that you enter it will tell you to replace at 72 months. I am guessing they are assuming we travel 30,000 kms per year therefore at 72 months it would be 180,000 kms.

by mileage: Any mile that you enter and any km/month it will tell you 190,000 kms.

I think the calculation is ok for the 2014 (and I am assuming for the 2015 and on are ok too) but I wonder why the intervals to replace the spark plugs between 2014 and 2015 and back to 2016 are different.

Use a 5/8" spark plug socket.
