I would like to drive my 17 IS300 till the wheels fall off.. currently at 21,500. Would love to make it past 200,000...not sure if that's wishful thinking.. im 24 years old... first big boy car purchase. Really happy with it so far as I love Toyota reliability but also love sports cars... perfect blend for me.

Yeah people are associating 1994 Corolla reliability with 2018 IS turbo reliability. Very well may be the case, but these cars are still to new to know if they'll maintain the same track record. I mean we already have hints that it may not. See the long term ownership concerns thread.
Not saying it will be horrible, just saying we don't know for certain if it will be as good.

Well for OLDER previous generations Lexus, I don't think that's wishful thinking given regular maintenance, and oil changes. I know people with Y 2008 Lexus IS still in perfect condition and going strong. Also, other Lexus models going strong starting with 1999 models. I think this thread is more about 3rd & 4th generation Lexus and RECENT quality control & service.

Yeah. Any modern car should be able to easily make it past 100k. The drivelines on most cars are robust. It's mostly the gadgets, the electronics. things with circuit boards that fail with modern cars

Those things don’t affect reliability in my mind. If my car drives with no issues, the rest of the components don’t matter within reason of course like once I’m hitting 150k+. When I say reliability I literally mean: turn on car, drive with no issues (assuming you’ve been doing the maintenance).

there's still a chance my 3IS will be around forever long long after paid off.
I sometimes imagine it as my "beater" 20+ years from now with a blank nav screen burnt out side views, 8 lbs of dirt under the hood, seats cracked open, and a driver seat stuck in position. Lol.
Dont get me wrong im being theatrical. I've had an 18 yr old lexus before an they all new me at the dealer cause it was the cleanest 90's lex they got to see.
Edit: and everything worked and looked great on that car. It took some fixing but less than most.

You should probably post this in the classifieds if you are serious about finding a buyer.

I'm on board with that as well.

But yeah if this car had a little more horsepower, I think that it would be a lot more well-rounded. Handling is great, but in a straight line, there are much better options. Even the non-Red Sport Q50 3.0T will win handily off the line.
TBH I think even the 300 AWD has enough power for me personally, but my standards are probably low, considering this is the first car in this class I've owned.
