Default DRL remain @ 100% w/headlights on

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to program the car to keep the LED DRL strip at 100% brightness while the headlights are on?

I saw an ISF tonight with that and it looked great!

Is it a simple reprogramming that can be done? or some easy modification? If anyone has done this, please share information on how to.

Thank you!

they dim with full headlights because otherwise you’d be blinding others on the road. it’s there for a reason

I don’t agree with this statement, are you saying the DRL’s at full brightness are the same as high beams?

not at all, i’m saying the drls + the actual headlight which is bright already would be blinding because the drls are bright on their own

Idk I don’t think it’s that serious personally. To each their own though. I wouldn’t do it just because seems complicated.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally I don’t agree that they will blind anyone because I saw another IS with this modification done and it did not blind me whatsoever. The DRL isnt designed to project a beam like a headlight does. With it on, it merely projects some light a few feet in front of the car.

In in addition I think the DRL is low enough that it wouldn’t cause any issues.

Done this every since I had my is350. Very easy mod. Just splice the two black wires on the drl together.

Dumb mod, this would be excessively glaring (bright) at night. Juvenile at best. Accident-causing at worst. Don't forget not every driver has the same eye sight/ eye health as you.

DRL’s don’t get close to bright enough to be an issue. Are you seriously saying the DRLs can get as bright as high beams? I feel like you hate all mods just cause.

it’s the beam direction. Your iPhone flash will blind you at night if pointed right at you.

i think beatsonic has modules to keep the DRLs on but at ~70% to not blind others

Never had the flash on my phone blind me even at close range but hey everyone is different. Still ridiculous to me that people think DRLs will blind an oncoming driver. I’m not planning on or going to do this mod but if OP wants the DRLs full blast I think it will be perfectly fine.

You can test it by switching from auto to the position above, DRLs are no where near as bright as regular headlights, way dimmer. You can barely see the road in front of you

I believe the visibility is more of a function of the way the light from the DRL is being reflected - that is, the normal headlight is designed to throw the light forwards of the car, where the DRL is not.

DRLs on a lot of cars are in fact very bright, though I never considered the IS's to be one of those.
