Default RCF Seat (Upper) Swap to IS250 F-Sport

Hi everyone. I was browsing Instagram looking for some build inspirations and came across a 3IS owner who swapped the upper part of the RCF front seats to his seats. Apparently the bottom part and full seat won’t work without a custom bracket, but the seat upper is a direct swap and even works with heated and ventilated seat connections.

I haven't found anyone else else who has done this and have reached out to him with some questions about part numbers. I was wondering if anyone on the forums has considered this and might have some weigh in on safety?

ive linked the video below

Thanks for sharing! Didn't know this was possible!
Looks cool, adding this into the to-do list.
There are a few trim combinations.
Mod is a little pricey lol, but they are some cool F seats.
I might not be doing it since my interior is the Red Trim (Rioja), unless I can find it priced lower.
Local dealer wants: ~$1200

For safety, I don't see an issue since its just a simple leather cover but I could be wrong.
None of the airbags were modified and the cover was slipped on and off, you can see the white bag on the right of the upper frame.
New F cover shouldn't impede since RC-F also have an airbag there.
The green plug the leather cover comes with is the optional heater.

Interestingly, the RCF upper frame is different since the head-rest is integrated.
The 3IS's head-rest is separate (removable) and might create unpredictable results in a crash if not used.
Maybe you can strip the head-rest cover and reuse the 3IS head-rest frame to maybe substitute.
If that works, then this solves this safety aspect but it doesn't look like the 3IS head-rest frame will fit correctly inside.
Nonetheless, looks unsafe and a little dangerous.
In the video, no head-rest frame bracing was used (~5:20).
Please see the differences between the 2 upper frames below.

Love the seats and the creative idea!
However, don't want to deal with (extra) whiplash in case of a crash/accident.

Part numbers:
Black trim (no heater): ~$980 a piece
71402-24130-C4 - Left
71401-24130-C4 - Right

Black trim: ~$1250 a piece
71402-24140-C4 - Left
71401-24140-C4- Right

Black/Blue Trim: ~$1495 a piece
71402-24150-21 - Left
71401-24150-21 - Right

Moon Stone Trim: ~$1495 a piece
71402-24150-B2 - Left
71401-24150-B2 - Right

Red Trim: ~$1495 a piece
71402-24150-D2 - Left
71401-24150-D2- Right

F 10TH Anniversary/Blue Trim: ~$1495 a piece
71402-24250-J0 - Left
71401-24250-J0 - Right

Silver Trim harness pieces:
(The trim the youtuber got from dealership)
73187-24080-B0 ~$60
73187-24060-B0 ~$30
73187-24070-B0 ~$30

You can also add the strap via 71708D (comes in different trims as well) ~$15.
Not sure if its going to do anything, since in the RC model its used to fold the seat down.

Imagine getting unknowingly rear-ended and not having a headrest (in this case the headrest was too low)

Thank you for your reply! I kind of figured it would have been those part numbers but wasn’t 100%. My buddy owns a body shop and can get me discounts on OEM dealer-ordered parts, so hopefully these won’t hurt the wallet TOO much *crosses fingers*

I think the “black trim” is going to be my best bet, as the interior of my MRM is black. I’m excited to try this!

Thanks for pointing this out, I didn’t consider this when doing my initial research. I def don’t want to have to heighten the risk of injury through negligence, so I’m looking at the cover as well as the accompanying bracket/frame. I’m curious as to whether the upper part of the seat frame will be compatible with the lower 3IS frame, allowing me to use both the cover and skeleton of the RCF while swapping over the wiring and internal components.

But oh my god, do the seats look beautiful when combined like that.
If the headrest frame issue could be solved, then this is a very very desirable mod.

Did you end up finding out if the upper part of the seat frame was compatible with the lower 3IS frame?

Although this is an old thread, I just wanted to add that I have also replaced the top and bottom seat pad covers to the 3IS frame. I did not need to make a custom bracket for the bottom, just replace the bottom seat pad cushion similar to how Jason does to the top piece in the video. It fits very nice and has the OEM heated seat option, not sure about seat cooling as I do not have that as an option on my vehicle.

Hope this helps for anyone looking to make a conversion like this.

Upper and lower seat pads/ covers fit the 3IS frame.
