I just swapped my radio in my 2014 is 350 w/ mark levinson. The original faceplate ID was p10434. I went to LKQ and got a used radio with the faceplate ID p10433. The radio I got doesn't say it's mark levinson on the face of the radio. So far it's working, except navigation, steering wheel controls, and voice command, I'm assuming all of that has to do with the new radio not having an SD card. Cost about 400-500 bucks. I called lexus and they quoted me $214 for a new SD card. So in the end should be about $700 rather than $2000. LKQ is awesome for having online listing of there parts.... P.S. Why is it so hard to find a radio with the same part number and faceplate ID?

P01433 = 8 speaker system
P01434 = 15 speaker system
You observation about the ML logo being missing would be correct as the radio is not an ML radio.
The difference in the wiring, IIRC, is the ML system had 4 extra wires for 2 additional speakers.
As the wiring is still present, I can only assume the radio is missing the 4 pins that correspond to the 4 wires, therefore those 2 speakers won't work...I guess the question is do you really notice the 2 speakers missing...I'm guessing not.

Interesting I'll have to check the pins to see if they're missing. Any idea which speakers would be affected? Walking around and listening I can't hear any speakers not operating. I figure if 2 speakers aren't working it'd be in the rear deck or front dash and I can't hear it because the other speakers that are working in the same areas right? I'm confused on why more than 8 speakers would be working if the radios from an 8 speaker vehicle? Thanks for the response! I've been getting more and more confused doing research on all of this

Ok...so I did make one small error...the 4 additional wires come from the Amp, not the Radio. And you were correct in your guess that the two additional speakers are in the rear deck, left and right side. They call them Header speakers...who knows why...maybe cause they would be next to the heads of rear passengers.
After reviewing the wiring at the Radio, the wiring is exactly the same between the two Radios, hence why it's plug and play...so if the Amp is driving the two extra speakers, there really isn't any reason all 15 speakers shouldn't be working right now.
Which then begs the question, why is there an ML and non-ML radio available? I can only assume the software inside the radio is slightly different as well as some of the components at a board level that just makes the ML radio a better quality radio.
Since the radio is only outputting a Left and Right channel to the Amp, maybe those channels have more wattage in the ML radio. Just a guess though.
The label on the back of the radios will likely reveal more of the technical specs that would help identify why the ML radio should be better.

Reviving this for people who still have issues. Given this is the most comprehensive post on here regarding the differences in the ID plates.

My p10433

P10762 unit I am purchasing

after much deliberation and research.

i have a P10433 Unit

i am going to be purchasing a P10762 Unit with an SD card and was gifted an Apple car play unit from tansowerks.

im going to bite the bullet and hope it works. From my understanding the only difference is the brown pin connector on my P10433 won’t be connected (15 speaker?) but all other functions should be available. And the Apple car play unit should bypass the lack of steering controls. I will report back once the p10762 unit arrives and I install.

There's also United Radio repair services. They work on Lexus stereo gear all the time. They can usually quote you on the phone.

I weighed the pros and cons of getting it repaired. Most of the repair places like United and the guys in Minnesota charge about $750-800 plus shipping and offer a 30 day warranty. But given I have the older 2014 unit I opted to just drop the 1k for a newer unit from an RCF that doesn’t have the point of failure and still get a 30 day warranty. And is in pristine condition with reported mileage from the doner vehicle being sub 40k on a 2018 RCF it just felt like a better value because the seller is also very reputable.

it has shipped and should be here next week. Will report back after install.

Update for everyone out there.

you CAN use a P10762 from an RCF/350 in a P10433 Unit car.

Plug and play. Works with my Tansowerks Apple car play as well. Godspeed nerds.

IF (big IF because I do not know) the radios in the IS work the same as in the GS then you do not need to match the P numbers. My 14 GS, which did not come with nav, had a problem with bluetooth, so I went looking for a replacement head unit at the junk yard and got the only one they had since if it didn't work they'd let me return it. I now have working bluetooth, plus navigation! The headunit says ML on it, which my car does not have, but my understanding is the headunit isn't actually different for ML vs non-ML, just the amps/speakers. The only thing that DOES matter is the year: 2013-14 GS have the same headunit, hard drive based nav; 2015+ used an updated headunit with SD based nav, and different connectors.

Again, this information is true for the GS, I don't know for sure it's also true for the IS, but it stands to reason that if they're interchangeable on the GS they'd also be interchangeable on the IS.

Default Would a repair be better than a replacement?

Would getting it repaired be better than a replacement? Price-wise sure it’s cheaper, but would it permanently fix the problem?

Hi. I am having the same constant screen rebooting problem in my 2014 Is250 and instead of matching face id, I go by the part number. The one in the car now is 86130-53012. If you didn't purchase that one, how much did you find it for? Thx.
