Why get an IS350 and its powerful NA V6.. for performance bragging rights?

The fact is Lexus is a business. Business means you have to sell in a world with competitors.

The B58 rumor may be unlikely but not absurd. Otherwise why didn't Toyota use their own twin turbo V6 in the Supra?

Engineers did an assessment and at the end of the day they chose the B58 for their sports car.

Sup?

Maybe because Lexus thought consumers would rather it be an I6 and be BMW than a TT V6 and be Toyota...

It's not cheap nor easy to build an engine from the ground up, particularly an I6. that takes decades of recent experience to churn out anything good.

Granted, but they already have that experience in the 2JZ. Take the 2J, port the heads, used some forged conrods and pistons, lighterweight heavier duty crank, bigger turbo, and call it the 3JZ. People are already doing this to the 2JZ and making stupid amounts of power. Dont see why toyota couldn't replicate and have a car that puts down 500WHP.

The new ISF with a 3JZ would be cool.

There is even an absurd rumor going around about the IS getting the B58 engine from the Supra, when there is already a V35A-FTS twin turbo V6 engine available.

The information I have isn’t completely IS relevant, but still fitting. It’s in regards to Toyota in general.
You are right about the 2.4T. It is coming. And they will use it in their US and Japan based models. And they are expanding the 3.5TT into more vehicles. Mainly SUV and trucks (since they are US production) but it will go into some Japan vehicles as well.

It won’t really start until 2021 models and later.

2020 IS is now showing on lexus.com. I don't really see any significant differences. Looks like we will have to hang on another year or so.

The last I heard from someone at Lexus was a 4is in 2021. The longer the better IMO, because I want my car to look as current as possible until I can order a C8 z06.

It is an unfair statement to say that if you want performance, then you're a braggart. You don't want to see Lexus improve the power / performance of the 4IS?
Editing my rant - BUT a of BMW updated models are looking cartoonish / matchbox-like except for the high-end models. Then again, appeal is subjective so shouldn’t be quick to judge. Just an opinion.

ALL 2 series models including the M2, 330 and m340, 430 and 440 are chump cars. The 2 series is the ugliest right next to the X4 and i8. The new 3 series looks like a Sonata / TLX.
Interesting. Here I was thinking the 2 series was one of the few BMW models on sale I'd actually want to buy. Welp...

As much as I recant on my previous statement, there’s a reason why you see so few 2 series on the road at that price point.

That would be me. Fair to say that the M2 isn’t ugly, but it’s not good looking either. Well, maybe it is ugly. There’s an extraordinary high number for sale. Short, boxy, kinda cheap looking.

Unsure why my original post deleted while i was making an edit to it, oh well.

M2 looks great, it may be ugly to you but that's a subjective opinion so it doesn't matter.

Just like how I think the RC 350 you drive is an absolutely hideous looking car, I'm sure you'd disagree.

I don’t drive a RC anymore. I have an IS. The 2019/20 RC kills the 2 series in good looks btw.

Not sure if you’re trolling but once again... that’s a subjective opinion.

If you don’t know the meaning of subjective, try to look it up before responding
