2020 Updates?

Isn't it all relative though. Wanting a car (that you spend money on) that competes well in its market is not about looking for performance bragging rights. Otherwise, couldn't I use that argument against you buying an IS350 vs. a Corolla.. or an 86?
Why get an IS350 and its powerful NA V6.. for performance bragging rights?
The fact is Lexus is a business. Business means you have to sell in a world with competitors.
The B58 rumor may be unlikely but not absurd. Otherwise why didn't Toyota use their own twin turbo V6 in the Supra?
Engineers did an assessment and at the end of the day they chose the B58 for their sports car.
Sup?

Maybe because Lexus thought consumers would rather it be an I6 and be BMW than a TT V6 and be Toyota...

It's not cheap nor easy to build an engine from the ground up, particularly an I6. that takes decades of recent experience to churn out anything good.

The new ISF with a 3JZ would be cool.

The fact that there is zero concrete information is not encouraging. All I've heard so far are rumors like Job #1 starting in July 2020 for the 2021 model year, the switch to the TNGA platform, it will be slightly larger than the current gen, and a 2.4L turbo engine will replace the V6. There is even an absurd rumor going around about the IS getting the B58 engine from the Supra, when there is already a V35A-FTS twin turbo V6 engine available.
The information I have isn’t completely IS relevant, but still fitting. It’s in regards to Toyota in general.
You are right about the 2.4T. It is coming. And they will use it in their US and Japan based models. And they are expanding the 3.5TT into more vehicles. Mainly SUV and trucks (since they are US production) but it will go into some Japan vehicles as well.
It won’t really start until 2021 models and later.

Editing my rant - BUT a of BMW updated models are looking cartoonish / matchbox-like except for the high-end models. Then again, appeal is subjective so shouldn’t be quick to judge. Just an opinion.

A lot of BMW updated models are ugly / cartoonish except for the higher end models like M3, M4, Z4, i8, 540 and M5, 6 series, 7 series, X5 4.0 and M, X6 4.0 and M, new X7, and new 8 series. ALL 2 series models including the M2, 330 and m340, 430 and 440 are chump cars. The 2 series is the ugliest right next to the X4 and i8. The new 3 series looks like a Sonata / TLX.

The M2 is many times debated as one of the best overall M cars made . Not sure what the person above you is talking about, I've seen his rants on BMW for quite some time on many posts. To each his own I suppose. I stopped reading after he mentioned the M2 as a 'chump car' lol.

M2 looks great, it may be ugly to you but that's a subjective opinion so it doesn't matter.
Just like how I think the RC 350 you drive is an absolutely hideous looking car, I'm sure you'd disagree.
