Default IS200t coolant leak

Yeah--not under my ownership. I still have access to my IS200t service records under lexus drivers account and I saw that the new owner complained of a coolant leak. Lexus found a warped seal caused coolant to leak so the water pump was replaced under warranty. 25k miles. That's interesting that that happened as soon as I returned the car and a new owner took delivery. Go figure. anyway a data point for you 200t/turbo owners. this could happen to you?

Thanks for the heads up. I had a serious coolant leak issue with my old G37S and it drove me nuts, I was able to get the leak down to like just a few tiny drops over time after replacing a bunch of stuff. I hope I don’t run into this issue with my IS.

I noticed my coolant resorvoir was low thought maybe because of the driveway's slope but then when I got under the car, I noticed that there appears to be a leak somewhere near the engine block. I have an appointment with lexus on Monday. Car has 32k miles, I've been the only owner, I mostly use it to commute to work.

is it an IS turbo? 200t/300? Some people on the NX boards complaining about coolant leaks, too.

here's how lexus wrote it up according to the records:

WATER PUMP ASSY &/OR GSKT ~|~CUSTOMER STATES COOLANT LEAKING ~|~WARPED SEAL ALLOWING COOLANT TO LEAK ~|~25879 WARPED SEAL ALLOWING COOLANT TO LEAK 161011 T1-64 T2-57 100 REMOVED AND REPLACED WATER PUMP AND COOLANT OFP:16100-39595

you're kind of lucky it happened now so you can have a free water pump. at least for the next 25-30k miles. which seems to be when the pumps start leaking.

How do you still have access to your service records in the Lexus service account? Is it a glitch in their system or did you just happen to be one they forgot to deactivate on there?

Asking for a friend... lol

I think as long as you have a VIN, you are able to search any Lexus vehicle in the records. I've been able to peek at service history for used Lexus' if the dealer had the VIN up on the listing.

It seems a little suspicious to me that it just started leaking after you got rid of the car.
If you have access to the service history for that visit, see if the customer complaint line on the workorder was first line, or last line, or in the middle.
Typically customer complaints go first so it looks legit when they have to claim warranty for a repair.
If the customer complaint is last of all the workorder lines, there is a chance it's legit, but could also just be a slow day and they need some warranty hours...leak or no leak.
Also a waterpump is not going to draw any attention from the warranty Gods at corporate...so it's an easy sneak.
For sure there's a new waterpump on the car...but did it really need it?
This is the real world here.

In the BMW world, I used to have connects that could run records by vin too. but they're not really supposed to, but it's not hard to find a SA/tech that will do it if you ask nicely and they're convinced you're not doing it for any nefarious reasons lol

Damn, looks like I can't log into my Lexus Drivers account anymore... Just tried lol. Would be curious to see how it's doing without me as well.

So it seems they replace the entire water pump rather than just the seal?
Hopefully they fixed the defect and not replace it with another one, since most people will be out of warranty if the second water pump fails.

I thought I was seeing things when I opened up my hood last week and saw that the coolant reservoir was seeming to creep lower and lower.
The level is sitting below the low line.
I brought my car in to the local Toyota dealership for an oil change and asked them to check for leaks.
They sent me a video showing pink goo leaking at the water pump and confirmed that there is a coolant leak.
My IS200T just barely hit 30K miles and at 4 years old, but the leak could be happening for a couple thousand miles.
From reading this thread, the issue seem to occur between 25k-30k miles.
Already made an appointment at Lexus to have this looked at. I'm well within the warranty period so hopefully they don't pull any BS.

This is correct. I own a 2008 RX350 and have a mylexus account. When I was car shopping, I would put the VIN from every car I was looking at, into my garage and review the service history. Using that helped me decide to buy the car that I did. It was a bit higher in mileage, but it had a fantastic service record, so I pulled the trigger.
