Does US Spec Enform Radio/Nav Unit work on Canadian Spec
Hello Everyone, I previously posted a thread regarding issues I was having the the Radio/Nav unit in my car continuously rebooting. It led to not turning on at all during the summer months and briefly turning on during the winter months and shutting off shortly after.I have tried everything in the books, disconnect the battery terminals, update the firmware, etc.. it has all failed to fix the issue. I've come to the desicion that I'm going to purchase a new(refurbished) unit that will be coming from down south. However I realize that US models come equipped with Enform , something that canadian models did not come with up until 2019/20 models.
My question is , since the unit should most likely be a plug in and play type of deal, how will the unit or car react to having one installed from the US ? I don't care for enform to work, as all I really want to to listen to music again !! One difference I noticed from the US spec units is that it doesn't have a memory card located on the front like mine has.
- Will it work seamlessly with my current GPS equipped car,
- Will I have issues such as error messages popping up on the screen
-Does the GPS on enform vehicles work via live feed such as cellular network
-Will I have issues with XM Radio due to the fact the XM serial number is probably registered in the US
The questions are endless, but just a rough idea of what I'm trying to understand here.
I guess the major question here would be, will the US unit be fully functional with everything I did have on the car minus the enform.
I'm going to attach a photo of my unit where you will see the memory card slot(2014), the US versions, and I'm sure some newer models post 2015 don't have this slot.
Help!! I going crazy with silence in the car
Don't mind the dust, I took this picture at the worst I've had my car dirty.

Was there any issues with the Map data, since I'm assuming it came with a US micro SD card?
Any issues with any of the functions outside of Enform? I'm assuming it doesn't work cause Canada does have the infrastructure for it.

@NVSTYNVTE Thanks for letting us know...definitely some valuable information for the Canadians.

I suspect as some of the newer Canadian Lexus have the Enform it's probably getting a signal from that system via the GPS antenna.

NVSTYNVTE thank you for the update, I'm glad to hear that you got a positive outcome from getting an American model unit. I'm in the processing of purchasing one myself. I initially purchased one and was lucky the seller runs a standard check on their units, only to find out it wasn't working 100%, so they refunded my money and cancelled the shipment. I have found a couple of other units including one Mark Levinson edition for the upgraded sound system, although it won't improve my sound in anyway because F Sport Package 2 only comes with the basic speakers and no sub. The only gain to getting this model in specific is an aesthetic appeal because the finish on the memory card door is different than our basic units. I will update everyone once I get my next unit of choice in and install it.

As I was telling NVSTYNVTE I'm on the market for an American unit as well. I wonder if after install, I can somehow get enform connected through Canada using the ID number on the unit or something since it seems we do now have Enform on the newer Lexus models. It would be great if a new connect is possible , as it would be so convenient after, as I've read somewhere before that they get their updates over the air if my understanding is correct.

The unit in particular that I managed to get my hands on is unit number P10762, this being different from my original unit P10435 that the car came with. My new unit is a GPS unit with the SD Memory card slot. I am not specifically sure which model or year the P10762 comes from but it is a direct plug in and play. It comes with extra features of which my original unit does not, such as weather, and traffic, and Lexus Apps. I attempted to download the Lexus app on my phone to see if i could connect the unit and use it to its full ability, however when I download the Lexus app on my phone and registered it comes to the step of asking me for the VIN number of the car equipped with the unit, so at this point I can only assume there is no way to proceed any further than this.
Everything on the radio works, FM Radio, Satellite Radio, and climate control, and the settings and such however ironically the one thing that doesn't work seems to be the GPS it's self. When I received the unit at my door step it did not come with the SD Card in the memory card slot, but I thought this shouldn't be an issue because all i would have to do is just remove the memory card from my original unit and slip it into the new one. I did follow through with doing this, but now I'm stuck with a pop up on the display saying it is constantly reading the memory card and it never ends up doing so.
I wonder now if this could be a defect with the memory card reader which I highly doubt because when I pull out the memory card it tells me to put it back in or else some of the features on the unit wont work, either way it isn't working regardless because it can't seem to read or pick up the memory card.
This makes me think
A. My memory card has a different program that isn't readable on the newer unit
B. Each unit comes equipped with its own individual memory card programmed differently from unit to unit
C. Possibly my SD card could be corrupted some how
D. Most likely my SD card just isn't programmed to work with the unit number that I picked up, being newer and updated afterall
This being said does anyone on here know how or what I can do going forth to try and and fix this , is possible that I could go to a Lexus dealer and they could cross reference the Unit to the car it came equipped on and supply me with a working memory card, or maybe this won't work since the Unit came from south of the border. Could this be something that could be addressed by performing an update on the unit, and if so how would I go on about figuring out which Update I'd be looking for that would go hand in hand with it.

The SD card is married to the first unit it is installed into.
It will only work in that unit or a brand new unit...it cannot be swapped into another used unit.
You have 2 options:
- Find the SD card that belongs to the unit that you bought...which is likely going to be impossible
- Buy a new SD card at the Lexus dealer and install it

Thank you for that info something to be duly noted for anyone that may be planning to replace the unit on their vehicle, that may run into the same problem of a missing SD card, this being said since my new unit came from the US would that effect me in being able to purchase a new SD card from a Canadian dealer. I just did a little research and the P10762 unit i picked up comes from the RC line of Lexus.
You say the SD card is married to the unit it came with, does that mean Lexus keeps on hand all the SD cards and programs that has come attached to each different unit radio they have produced, I don't mind purchasing a new SD card if it is as easy as walking into my local dealer and picking one up, I just hope they don't end up asking me for a VIN number because that would be impossible to retrieve that type of information.

You can purchase a Canadian micro SD card and install it into the US unit.
Lexus does not record which card goes into which vehicle...the cards all have the same part number for that production year and the marrying process only takes place when the card is inserted into the vehicle, and at the next startup.
Every year around the Fall Lexus will release the next micro SD card in the series that has the newest Map data.
When you go to the dealer, simply ask them for the card for your vehicle and they will give you the newest one (they may need to order it in)...it will not have the same part number as the card you currently have as I'm assuming that card is at least a year old, if not more.
The card is around $200 and all you need to do is insert it and start the vehicle.
You can watch the multi display as the unit loads the info from the card.
