Default Maintenance Intervals

I just bought a second hand 2014 IS350 recently and its serviced yearly. The previous owner has it serviced at the dealer for about 5 years now. The 6th year service is coming and was quoted an estimate of $460 to $500 from the dealer so I figured I would just bring it to a trusted mechanic. I don't drive 10,000km per year so I would do a yearly service instead. I checked the owner's manual, and I just can't comprehend what it's trying to say since there is also a months column at the end. I attached a photo of it.

The last service was done last year January 5, 2019 at 22,500km. My odometer is currently at 26,000km. If I understand correctly, I only need to replace the following for the 6th year service:
  • Engine oil
  • Engine oil filter
  • Air conditioning filter
Is this correct?

So the months at the end of each column is telling you how often you should “Inspect (I)” or “Replace (R)” if you’re not going to go by mileage or KM. So like engine oil every 12 months for example. If I’m understanding correctly you’re doing the 30,000 KM interval basically even though you’re just going by yearly (12 months) so yeah the only 3 that are “replace” every year for sure is engine oil, oil filter, and the in cabin filter although idk why it says every 6 months for the in cabin AC filter that’s a bit much. Also I would change your engine air filter more often if you’re using the regular paper filters.

Since I'm on the 6th year (72 months) and it's supposed to be replaced every 24 months, does this mean I also need to replace the brake fluid? Is this necessary?

That would be correct as well as your differential fluid.

Alright, I think I get it now. However, differential fluid is 24th in the list right? Wouldn't that be every 4 years (48 months) so I'd need to get that changed on the 8th year?

Yes my bad ASSUMING it was done on that last interval. If you don’t know I would change it out.

Regarding the cabin filter, I know that 6 months seems a bit too much. However, that is a simple job, anyone can perform on its own. The OM is showing exactly how to access the cabin filter from the glove box.
I would suggest at least to check the cabin filter 2 times a year, a quick visual inspection, maybe shake the cabin filter from leaves and debris and decide on your own if you want to change it, after all, this is something you do for your health.
In my case, the air is a bit more polluted that other places and there is dust and pollen in the spring, so I change this filter 2 times a year, and inspect it, clean it in between. To clean it, I am using 2 methods: removing the filter and using a cleaning foam deep under the fan and also spraying with a solution of about 70% alcohol from the outside vent (near the blade wipes), that way my cabin air is always clean and no musty smells.

This is true it is very dependent on your location and it is indeed really easy to service. I usually have no issues going 12 months.
