Thats not a Lexus Corp issue...

That is the dealership regional managers decision.. They keep the costs of these standard regional cars lower buying not packaging them with ML.

I don't agree with that approach, as customers are stuck buying cars with out ML.

ML is one of the main reasons I consider the IS, a CD player with ML would be amazing when every other car is Bluetooth only and nowhere near the wattage

Try San Diego Lexus. When I purchased my Is350, they had nothing but ML equipped 350 F Sports.

I got lucky with my 2007 IS 350 as the dealer saw cars coming into the port of Jax and found one with ML and they tagged it for me.
Yes, I always given the "special order" spiel too. Absolute BS. It's a joke when the option is advertised all over and is equipped in auto show models (obviously) yet the largest dealership on the West Coast doesn't have a SINGLE model in stock with the option available. It's easier to find an X1 with Xenon lights optioned than it is to find an IS with ML here (that's saying a lot considering how 9/10 X1s on BMW lots are halogen lit).

Funny you mention that because San Diego was THE one dealership that had a 2019 IS350 F-Sport with ML back when I was looking. At that time I was looking, it was THE ONLY vehicle with it in the entirety of SoCal. Such a joke.

I'm bummed because earlier this year when reports were coming out about the 2021 IS, it was noted somewhere that ML was standard now, which was exciting. Looking back now, it was possibly a mistranslation from something originally in Japanese. Or maybe ML is standard in Japan. IDK.

When i was looking in Aug around socal to re lease a lexus, I saw Glendale had a meca blue with ML, I would suppose with that color and option it was a dealer specials order?

supply and demand? maybe not enough people inquiring about it for them to consider.

This option was a cutting point for me in 2007. I distinctly remember my advisor saying “you know the base sound system is really good enough” That’s a pet peeve of mine, someone telling me what I want. So I kept waiting and telling them when one comes in let me know. They never called. I must have went in about 3 or 4 times and each time there were no 350’s w ML.

The last time I went in I was all set to just special order the car and the advisor said let me check one more time at the cars coming in and they found one set to hit the port of Jax and they tagged the system to have it delivered to JM Lexus. I was in the right place at the right time. It had the luxury package Nav w ML, button for electric steering wheel adjustment and rear window shade, memory seats w lumbar. It had everything I wanted even ext/int color.

I say all this because it was an exhausting search trying to find what I wanted. All of the marketing brochures and web showings of the car always had ML on the 350 but in reality it was an option not available in FL. I also remember someone else telling me that ML and the Luxury pkg were not options allocated to the FL region. Crazy!! Let’s hope things change for 2021.

^^ I went through something similar... But I was never going to find my build.. When special ordering a 2007, the allocation was bumped to 2008 due to mid summer change over at factory. Ended up better for me as it came with the Darker Liquid Graphite wheels on my 2008 IS350 Smokey Granite Mica w / Sport Package / NavML / Park Assist

Remember the regional dealership managers collective pick a simple build and keep the prices competitively lower.. Which in the end helps bump sales and movement off the lots..

If anyone wants a 2021 with special equipment, order ahead of time if you have the time.. I had plenty of time..

Im more interested in the discussion of the F Sport now possibly only available on the 350. Which makes perfect sense to me..

I signed up for updates on the 2021 IS and got an email with lots of details
including a build link. I haven’t followed up yet, but I’m guessing the info
is now on Lexus USA.

Yeah, no idea what is up with that. Reminds me of trying to build a C-Class and wanting a heads-up display (which is an option) but it is basically unfound on any dealership lot. You HAVE TO factory order to have that. I had wished the IS would have this too (I have a 2012 328i and the HUD is one of the best things to ever be in a car. I'm glad brands like Toyota, Honda, and Mazda have some sort of speedometer display at EYE LEVEL so you won't need to keep slightly looking down to know your speed), but at least the IS has the number speedometer in the middle gauge of the driver dash.

You are truly lucky to have gotten exactly what you wanted in one place.

Still wish Lexus put power folding for the side mirrors. Every model has it except for the IS. Makes no sense. I feel maybe they'll add it for 2022...if they don't discontinue the car altogether.

Why is he not at least reading Lexus USA .com to see that this color is exclusive to the F Sport and it's called Infrared.
He should be concise when he starts off the video and tell the viewers what the color is called instead of not being prepared.
It's not Matador. lol Also why not peak inside to see what color interior? It looks like black but will never know. lol

A couple of strange quirks about that. It shows a moonroof as not being standard.
It shows both blue paint options available for the F-Sport.

That’s not a build it now. That is a cold calling form to give dealers your contact info to call you.

Right. Sorry, I shouldn’t have called it a build.

It’s looking like the Fsport will be pricey, though.
