That’s what I thought too.
Don’t you think that 40’s all around are going to have a much more quieter ride quality in the cabin than the RWD that has 40/35’s? Maybe it’s the adaptive that makes either one more compliant?

f sport awd’s still get staggered wheels, you can tell in the press pictures released of the red IS350 awd. the rear tires look a lot wider and more beefy. plus i can’t imagine they’d take away staggered wheels on the f sport when they’ve been staggered since 2014 whether rear or all wheel drive.

According to the Lexus Comparison tool, both IS350 and IS350 AWD run 235/40 R19 in the front and 265/35 R19. So yes, it's still staggered unless the information from Lexus is incorrect.

Lexus Comparison

Yes, 40 ratio tires would be more comfortable. Noticed increased in stiffness when I went from 18 255/40R18 MPSS to 255/35 R19 MPS4S in the front and from 275/40 R18 MPSS to 275/35 R19 MPS4S on my M4. Noise isn't a huge difference. Vibration will increase due to stiffer sidewall. Adaptive suspension works wonders! Just throw it in comfort mode all the time until you want to drive spirited. The tire compound makes a more a difference though. All seasons will be harsher because of the stiffer compound to last longer in terms of mileage. This is mostly noticeable if you go from Michelin AS3+ to MPS4S, it's less stiff and less noisy. The only increase in noise you'll get is rocks being picked up and thrown around in the wheel well.

@jmull3r thanks for the clarification...

I too looked at the press cars and it seemed the AWD looked the same on all 4.. But I could be wrong..

They also threw on run-flats in the some press car photos.. None of which is in the write ups or press release specs.

The AWD models will likely be equipped with some sort of All Season Tires
(staggered or non staggered)

This may sound like a dumb question but would the adaptive suspension be always on regardless what drive mode your in or is it only activated while in Sport or Sport +

I know with the m340i it’s a button below the shifter that you press to activate the adaptive.

I think "Adaptive" is correct terminology. It monitors driving conditions and adjusts on the fly. So, yes it would be active at all times. In Sport+, you just have a firmer base damper setting.

Curious what dougie has to say about the IS... i'll watch it this evening. from the title, i'm sure his review isn't glowing. i'm guessing he says "the powertrain is old, it's just alright" or something like that. lol.

This guy is nothing but contradictions.

The first half of the video he was pretty glowing, went on about the exterior and how he liked the interior, always has...then he said the car "isn't good" followed by at the end of the video that its a good car, not great. Imo, if this car had 350hp hed love it. Everything comes down to power now.

And he said the infotainment screen is small. Isn't this a pretty standard size screen for most cars? I mean, it's not the Mazda 3 screen we're talking about. Lol

Lexus should have just had the touchscreen interface and replaced the touchpad with a wireless charger or something useful like that. I was always annoyed that there was nowhere to put the damn phone

More Doug...One of the most confusing reviews I've seen. First he says it's a good car, later it's not really a good car, the end he says it's a good car just not great. make up your mind Doug and stick with it. lol
He's always a bit over the top with most all his review, it's more about how he talks than about the car. Some of what he says makes sense people are buying more SUV's than cars but we know this already. I watched so he got his hit but I left more confused about his review and didn't help me as a consumer. He really didn't even talk about how it drives maybe 45 seconds. Seems like he wants more power than anything else.

I wouldn't mind just a bit more power, it's been basically the same for over a decade. 340 or 350 hp for street driving would be perfect. Then again I'm probably the only person on the planet that wants my RCF detuned. Can't really get aggressive with the throttle without getting dangerously fast. Maybe that's why I liked the LC500, the weight tended to slow things down a bit, if I could only fit my kids back there...
