Default 3G NETWORK RETIREMENT Oct 2022

Certain telecommunications providers have elected to discontinue 3G wireless services by the end of 2022, affecting select 2010-2018 Lexus Vehicles reliant on this network to provide Lexus Enform subscription services. As of October 31, 2022, at 11:59 PM CST, Lexus Enform Safety Connect, Destination Assist, Remote, and Service Connect subscription services will be discontinued on select 2010-2018 vehicles.

Well that's really disappointing. I rather like enform remote and being able to check on my car remotely, and lock it if I forget to. Having SOS too is nice for peace of mind. I wish they had gone the route of BMW when they were discontinuing 2g service for some of their cars and they eventually offered a retrofit for their cars to support 3g. Had that done to my 2011 e92.

What is happening?
As wireless technology continues to evolve, telecommunications providers in North America are making significant changes to their legacy communications infrastructures and network capabilities. Certain telecommunications providers have elected to terminate 3G wireless services, which will impact available services for motor vehicles. This affects certain 2010-2018 Lexus Vehicles reliant on these 3G networks to provide Lexus Enform subscription services.

Why is this happening?
Telecommunications providers are discontinuing 3G services in favor of newer and more advanced LTE networks. Although these circumstances were created by factors beyond our control, we sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause.

How does this impact Lexus vehicles?
As of October 31, 2022, at 11:59PM CST, the following available Lexus Enform subscription services will be terminated on select 2010-2018 vehicles:
  • Lexus Enform Safety Connect including Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Emergency Assistance Button and Stolen Vehicle Locator
  • Lexus Enform Remote including Remote Engine Start/Stop, Door Lock/Unlock, Vehicle Finder, Guest Driver Monitor, Vehicle Status and Alerts, Key Fob Remote Start, and Integration with Alexa® and The Google Assistant
  • Lexus Enform Destination Assist including 24-hour live response center agent
  • Lexus Enform Service Connect including Vehicle Health Report, Vehicle Alerts, and Maintenance Alerts

that's lame that lexus isn't going to provide a retrofit option for those who are eligible and want it like bmw did as some member mentioned above.

This is totally not Lexus fault since older vehicles use 3G transmitters. Not to add insult to injury but 3G is very slow nowadays. I have read many complaints on their Service Connect especially the Remote Start feature. Lexus should offer LTE antenna upgrades.

Enform is dog****. Further proven by the fact that it was on 3G until recently.

It’s literally the worst part of the car. Good riddance.

Good riddance? You know you don't have to use any of it, right? Now everyone is just going to have some functions of their car made useless, and a SOS connect button that's no longer going to do anything. How is that good for anyone, even if you did not like it?

I understand the shutdown of the 3G networks across the country, but I think there should be some kind of a upgrade path, even if it's paid for. I use the remote start from my phone everyday during the summer.

No but it is their fault for using 3G modules since 4G has been in use for some time now.

Compared to the competition, its pretty bad. Lexus also started taking features away over time because they were lazy about updating the software. Their whole infotainment strategy is a complete disaster.

The company is too conservative for their own good which makes them too slow to change and innovate beyond quality control.

I am SO glad I got a 2018 lol. I actually enjoy being able to lock/unlock my car from my phone and get status notices such as a window being open, etc. Remote start on the other hand is something I do not need at all.

Especially because the Lexus remote start without enform is $1200.
