I think so. I viewed it on my computer that converted the text to English. My iPhone doesn’t convert.

like any OEM infotainment options being selected in the background when using CarPlay?

I just installed my carlinkit box in my 2016 RX with nav and my joystick (along with the map, menu, back buttons) doesn't work at all, even in OEM menus. If I uninstall the box everything works fine again. Did anyone else have this issue? Is it a problem with the wire harness?

This is most likely a settings issue. Check the "dip switches" on the side of the carplay box, there should be a sticker on the box showing you the correct position of the switches, or if not, it should be in the directions.

I had the same issue for my 2014 IS with joystick and Nav. Joystick works if I unplugged everything, I tried to set all toggle switches combination none of them worked for me. Does your harness have black connectors with labeled "High new split screen and old no split screen" try to reverse these connectors to see if joystick works. My joystick works if I swap but then it was controlling both systems at same time.

It could be the cable is connected incorrectly, I noticed that the connectors are the same size and fit, mine was connected incorrectly at first and I couldn't get any audio.

Ah the CAN control cable had come disconnected and I didn't realize. My joystick works now...but there's a new problem.

When I hold the menu button to switch into CarPlay, I hear the carlinkit box "click" and my screen freezes. It seems like it's switching to CarPlay but just not showing it on the screen. If I hold the menu button again, the screen unfreezes and works as normal again.
